I am officially a new DVC owner. So happy.
Bought 100 points direct. My guide was terrific, and the process was seamless (and completed in just about 2 weeks), even after I split the 100 into two 50 point contracts and changed from an April to June UY. (I had attempted numerous offers on resales, but the market is too nuts - the price per point was not that much of a difference to put up with that amount of hassle - and the 6 months of 0% interest on my Disney Visa helped to seal my decision to go direct).
First trip already scheduled for next August. It will be our 4th trip to AKL-AKV from Jan 2013 to August 2014, so I figured that I may as well buy in!:woohoo:

Welcome Home! We own at AKV as well and love our time there.

Looks like you are going to WDW a lot. One piece of advice - pay off these points before you consider adding on. ;)

Congratulations! AKV is our home resort, as well and we love staying there. Wise move on dividing the 100 points into two 50 point contracts. Enjoy!!

Many thanks to you all!

And to JustTinking - SAGE advice re: pay off current debt from these new contracts prior to succumbing to the notorious addondinitis! ;)

Thanks again!

:offtopic:congrats welcome to the world of no free dining!!!

Thanks for the chuckle.

In all seriousness, part of the reason for buying into DVC was that I prefer not to eat out too much, even on vacation. We stayed in AKL for the marathon in January (with a room-only discount, scoring a "people pen" or reclassified standard view). Then rented points to stay in a Savanna view studio in August.

I loved ordering groceries from Garden Grocer. We ate breakfast in the room, then packed lunches each day. We ate dinners out, using Disney Gift Cards that I had purchased at Target with good discounts.

So "free" dining would actually cost me more money! ;)

I'm really looking forward to stays in a 1 bedroom! Those value rooms really seem to rock on stretching points.

yeah especially when your a family of six and it is a vacation so the wife shouldnt have to cook on vaca also i use garden grocer

Congrats! Sounds like you really thought out your decision and you will only LOVE it more each time you go!

Thanks so much! I have a strong background in science, so of course I researched the heck out of this decision! ;)

I just had an incredibly stressful week - yet I found (just the thought of) this newfound DVC ownership wonderfully focusing and calming.

Just remembering how I felt, whilst walking through that resplendent lobby at AKL, relaxed every part of me.

Thanks again!
