New owner with transfer questions

We're new DVC owners and have a few questions.

(1) How do you find other owners from your same resort that might be willing to transfer points for future use?
(2) If you receive a transfer of another member's points for 2010, can you bank them in your own account for use in 2011? Or, do the transferred points have to be used in the year they are transferred?

If you are interested in a transfer, you can post in the Rent/Trade board here on the DIS. There are guidelines so be sure to read those over. I have never sought one yet so I can't help with specifics.

Transferred points do retain their own UY and home resort, but yes, you can bank those points, providing they are still within their banking window.

For example, if I get a transfer of Feb 2010 UY points from BLT (my home resort) today, I could then bank them into the 2011 UY and they would be good from Feb 1st, 2011 - January 31st, 2012.

So, be sure, when you seek the points, they will work for your time of travel.
