New Orleans For Lunch?

I loved Petunia's just off Bourban on St. Charles (I think). The Stuffed crapes are amazing. It is only 2 houses off Bourban and about 6 blocks from Canal. Get the Bourban Milk there, they make them the best.

Cheers

Too funny, Mr. Grumpy...that's my husband's favorite too...

Asked a friend that lives there and went to Loyola...he said maybe R&O's?

Definitely not R&O's (we eat there about once a week!), but there was a place about a block from there that was two-stories called Bull's Corner. You parked on the first floor and the restaurant was on the second floor. Could that be it? It was primarily a steak place, but they did have seafood too. It closed a while back. No restaurant has done well in that location for some reason.

(BTW, lllovell - I went to Loyola too! I think the poster meant Loyola Avenue in Jefferson Parish, not the University, though because it's not near the Lake.)

Arrggghh! Too many choices! I was set on Redfish till I read the Gumbo shop review. Maybe if I do both and have a moveable feast. Then, I'd likely never get to Florida.

Was it a bad review? I think the food is great!

I see now. He was really quite unsure based on the info I gave him and no wonder! lol

When were you at Loyola btw?

Try "The Court of Two Sisters" in the French Quarter! They have a buffet, the likes of nothing I've ever seen before. You can eat in their courtyard with a band playing original jazz while you dine. We ate there for lunch and it was one of the fondest and most memorable dining experiences ever!

Happy Vacationing,
Tom :goodvibes

No, not at all. I really like Gumbo though, but Redfish sounds great also. Probably leaning towards the gumbo place.
Okay, another question. Is there street parking down there, or paid lots, or valet or what?

There are several paid lots around the Redfish Grill, I'm not sure about the Gumbo Shop. It's not really a dining hotspot for locals.

LOL. I was at Loyola in the late 80's, early 90's.

I kow they did not specialize in steak, because BIL and SIL had a fit that all there wa was seafood! (OK, we're in New Orleans now people...)

It looks liek I'll have to scan and post a photo fo teh view and see if it helps. I didn't realize I was beign so difficult!

We ate a muffalatta at the Central Grocery in the French Quarter once for lunch. It's not a restaurant - but an actual grocery serving up muffalattas. It was great and we were told it was one of those things you have to do while in NO, like Beignets from Cafe du Monde and a hurricane from Pat O'Briens!

Hi, I'm back, and just in time it seems. Thanks for all the tips. I did eat at the Gumbo Shop, which was really a cool looking place, with really good food. It was fairly empty at the time, 130 in the afternoon, and I was able to get a parking space about a block away. Walked around for about a half-hour, then headed out. I did get beignets to take with me, and made the mistake of not eating one as soon as I got them. They don't travel well. When I got to the hotel about 6pm and went to have one, they were pretty hard, and not real tasty. So, next time we are at WDW, we have to go stratght to PO and get some fresh ones.
Anyhow, thanks everyone for the tips, and I wish you the best of luck with this storm. Hope it just dies out in the Gulf.
Regards,
J.
