I'm reading on these boards that DVC'rs are able to book particular dates only (as opposed to length of stay) for Dining plans through MS. Looking at dvcmember.com last night and unable to find any information about these changes at all. Is anyone aware of printed information detailing the changes? :3dglasses

Not aware of any printed information but I was able to break our 15 night reservation into 3 segments so that I could add the DDP for 6 nights in the middle. I have a confirmation number and printed details of that

great to know that the system is up and running

Are these segments 3 different reservations that are linked? There isn't any chance that you would have to change rooms is there?
Thanks,
Tina

They are linked. They aren't different reservations, but different segments within the same reservation

Just call MS today to confirm that the "rumors" I've been hearing are in fact true. Was told that I could have dining plan for some of my stay as long as they are for consecutive nights. Since I have ADR's for Friday and Sunday which are the only Disney park days planned decided to add the plan for Fri, Sat and Sun of my 8 night stay. This will make eating in the parks a little cheaper since it will be all Dinning plan credits instead of OOP and I get an extra Disney resturant as well. The only thing is I will have to pay for it when I book the plan. I asked if there was any possiblity of losing my reservation and was told that they must go threw a supervisor to do this so no chance of losing it that way.

That's good information, thank you. I kind of figured you'd have to book consecutive days, that makes sense. I think we'll be adding a 2 day DDP to our vacation, a Monday and a Tuesday which will give us dining credits until midnight Wednesday, right? That'll work. Thanks again for the info.:3dglasses

I thought some people were reporting that they added the DP every other day. That would be a bummer if you had to add it to consecutive nights and bunch all your credits instead of spacing them out like I was hoping to.

To add a plan every alternate day you would have to break your reservation up into a series of one-night segments and add a dining plan to every other segment.

Since we have it for Friday to Sunday (3 nights) to me it would expire at midnight on the Sunday. so for your Monday and Tuesday I would assume it would expire at midnight Tuesday not Wednesday. But I might be wrong.

In my particular case I told MS that I had ADR's for the Friday and Sunday. She then said I would have to have them as consecutive nights. I just thought OK I'll add Saturday to it as well. Our plan for this trip was 1 or 2 days in Disney parks and the rest of our stay we would either drop the kids off at Universal or we would go shopping for the day. I really didn't dig any deeper to see if I could do a one day here and a 1 day there. I think that this is something that they most likely will try to discourage as it is a lot of work for MS to "split" a 1 week reservation into 3-5 different segments.

Mine alone with just adding the 3 days will have 3 segments: The arrival day, Dinning plan 3 days, and the final 4 days. Can you inmagine all the work if someone wanted dinning plan every other day on a 1 week stay?

No, I'm pretty certain yours would expire Monday Midnight.

This is correct - credits expire at midnight on your check-out day - even though you're not "checking out" - Sunday night credits will expire @ midnight on Monday.

There you go...I said I might be wrong and those more experienced corrected my mistake! Gotta love the dis board members! Thanks for setting me straight.

Could you also add the regular dining plan for some of your nights and the deluxe or premium dining plan for other nights?

I just called Member Services to ask about having 2 different dining plans on one reservation. She said I would have to cancel my reservation and then rebook it as 2 different reservations with different DDP each. I don't want to lose my ressie, so I won't do this. Anyone else get a different answer???

I tried to add 2 nights of a Deluxe Dining Plan for the middle part of our 4 night trip and was told by MS that i could do the first 2 nights or last 2 nights and they'd link 2 separate confirmations .I didn't have the heart to ask them to break it down to 3 confirmations. first night as number one, 2,&3 nights as number two, and finally the last night as number 3.So instead we're going with the basic plan for the first 2 nights and the deluxe plan for the second 2 nights. .It's all good.

Three Questions....
Can the dining plan still be added to a reservation 48 hours before the first night?
If so, does this require rebooking the reservation?
Why would a manager need to get involved?
Thank you,
Mike

I just pulled the following from the DVC site.

2010 Disney Dining Plan
Take advantage of Disney Dining Plan options for an easy and affordable way to enjoy meals and snacks at over 100 select restaurants throughout Walt Disney World® Resort. Choose from a variety of dining experiences for the length of your stay at Walt Disney World Disney Vacation Club Resorts or Walt Disney World Disney Collection hotels. Simply add a Disney Dining Plan selection to your reservation at least 48 hours prior to your check-in date. Payment in full is due at the time of adding the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation. Please contact Member Services for assistance by calling (xxx) xxx-xxxx* or (xxx) xxx-xxxx*.

It looks like the dining plan can still be added to a reservation. Why is there the concern about losing a reservation if you add it 48 hours prior to arrival?
Just wondering what I am missing.
Thanks,
Mike

If you want the dining plan for only part of your reservation, they have to split it up into separate reservations. That's where you risk losing it, not the 48 hour part.
