(I posted something about this in the Attractions and Strategies forum before realizing there was a rumor forum - My bad! I'm still new!)
So, right now for non-party nights in October (starting with October 1st), there are no listings for times of Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic, or Wishes. On top of that, a new audition listing for Male Parade Performers on DisneyAuditions.com removes any sort-of mention of Disney's Electrical Parade/Main Street Electrical Parade. Could we possibly be getting new nighttime entertainment in Magic Kingdom within the next year? Especially with how innovative and fresh the nighttime entertainment at Disneyland is currently, Magic Kingdom needs to step up their game. The audience reaction to MSEP as of recently has mostly been mixed to negative, and while Wishes is still mostly loved, it's becoming obvious (especially with Celebrate the Magic as its preshow) that it's a bit dated at this point. Rumors have been circling from Cast Members that I've talked to that some new things may be coming. If I were to predict (based on how the crowds were for non-party days last year), they may wait until after October, November, and December pass before they premiere anything new. However, they may take Wishes and MSEP down for "refurbishment" whilst they prepare new entertainment to premiere near the top of 2017. They could easily run a lower-scale fireworks show during non-party nights like Fantasy in the Sky (Disneyland ran FitS in the period between Remember... Dreams Come True's closing and Disneyland Forever's opening) and not run a parade (if Disneyland can go 17 years without a nighttime parade, Magic Kingdom can go 3-4 months without one). Obviously, this is all speculation with minor support from "rumors" I've heard from Cast Members (but who knows how accurate such rumors may be?), and there's also the fact that budget cuts have been put in place and the Entertainment division is already giving us the new castle show, Rivers of Light, and new Star Wars offerings this year. Nevertheless, I think it's time for new nighttime entertainment at Magic Kingdom. I don't know that we can wait five more years until the 50th (Heck, I think MSEP would probably break down in the middle of the parade route before we got to that point).
