New neighbor's dog never stops barking!

What I can't understand is the other neighbors between us must be going completely crazy! Management would take care of things if they knew. There are at least 7 families in the immediate area. How has no one said anything?

I won't because I keep a low profile here. Just had to put my story down too!

Maybe the neighbors want to keep a low profile too. If so, then enjoy the barking.

We have an annoying rooster across the road that crows a LOT during the day, of course starting about daybreak. DH and I would love to wring its neck so it shuts up!

My Cavalier LOVES to be outside! He cries and scratches to go back out when we bring in him in for a break or if he gets over heated. The lab next door is the same. Now then - our dogs only bark as people pass the yard. (mine will bark at squirrels and hawks)
So I really don't think its neglect to keep a dog outside all day in the yard or tied up IF it wants to be outside, has adequate food and water, the temperature isn't extreme and if it's not being a nuisance by barking.

We had the same problem a few years ago - the neighbor would put the dog out in the yard and then leave the house - at night! The noise would end about 3 in the morning, but sometimes lasted all night Finally at an HOA meeting we mentioned it to the board - they sent a letter but also informed us to call the police, non-emergency number. We called about 3 times, and each of our neighbors did as well. The police left her tickets for the noise - after about 2 weeks, the barking stopped. She ended up moving down the block into another home and shortly after that moved out of the neighborhood altogether.

I learned that some (not all) yappy dog owners have literally tuned out the incessant barking and sometimes truly don't even realize how annoying their barking dog really is...especially if they are home a lot with that pet.

We have a neighbor who I've posted about before on here, whose dog not only roams the neighborhood and pees on everything, but also barks without mercy at what appears to be NOTHING.

I've gotten to know them a bit more since that time and finally said something to her while I was over visiting one day. We were sitting there chatting and yappy was going on and on and I finally said "I'm sorry, but I have to ask...how the hell can you stand that?" She goes "what..??" I said "the freaking non-stop barking!" She goes "oh my gosh...I'm sorry, I don't even notice it anymore...he's been like this for 11 years, and I don't even hear him anymore".

She is a SAHM so she's home with him all day. It wasn't 15 mins later her husband came home from work. After about 2 minutes of him being there he comes out of the bedroom and shouts "for god's sake yappy...stop!!!"

She started laughing (and so did I) because again...she has completely tuned him out. I told her - from now on I'm just going to call or text her when he's outside and needs to be tended to...and she thanked me because she honestly didn't even realize how annoying it is to others who aren't accustomed to hearing it day in and day out.

Either way - I agree - it's VERY annoying and for sure needs to be addressed. I was just posting this to realize it may not even be intentional as far as neglecting the barking.

I couldn't leave my dogs unattended if I wanted to. Between trying to keep them cool in extreme heat, playing referee when they fight, telling them to stop if they start barking at other dogs going down the road, checking for bee stings (they are allergic)...goodness they are worse than children.

Just curious. How many ? I can leave mine out unsupervised and they have kiddie pools, dog houses and umbrellas out there. As far as the fighting, well we are a 7 dog family and there are 2 that I keep seperate ( one in the front one in the back reverse the next day they've been together forever but just don't love each other ) They love being outside.

I was a member of 2 nation wide rescue groups that's how this family got so big. Had them since they were pups, they're all getting gray faces now.

Other than rainy season with the exhausting bring them in put them out routine we pretty much have peace in our little valley.

I would make the call to animal control Tying a dog out that long is unacceptable. Personally, if you approach the neighbors I think they will get defensive anyway. Sounds like they shouldn't own a dog.

Check to see if your town has sound ordinances. For example, where I grew up, you would get a ticket for using the lawnmower before 7am, or after 10:30pm. If you can't talk to the neighbors, then call and ask your local police about it.

Hey there! My post was a little tongue in cheek I have three dogs and they will not LITERALLY fight, when I said "referee" I meant ensuring that our more dominant boy isn't hoarding their outdoor toys, which makes his brothers cry/bark.

We have a kiddie pool, but they are afraid to go in it. They are also afraid of a sprinkler, but love chasing the stream from the hose. Go figure. Normally its not an issue but we had the hottest July on record, and our homes are not equipped for that (ie: no air conditioning because we don't typically have such hot weather). They would rather lie by our feet in the cooler, unfinished basement rather than me in a dog house of the same temperature.

Generally, we are a happy family and the dogs get along as well as any brothers do (they are actual littermates).

No, no one else has complained to the new neighbors, that I'm aware of. I was out taking a walk, and the woman across the street stopped me and said that the dog was driving her crazy, keeping her young kids awake. She said that people on either side of her were complaining too. Yet we're all hesitant to say anything to the new neighbors. We're a neighborhood of wimps, apparently. I know for sure I am!

Ah, I feel your pain. Sorry, didn't read the rest of the comments after this one you posted, but OP, I do know animal control laws very from state to state. Here where I am in my county in Florida, we had to get this piece of paper from animal control and fill it out ALL DAY LONG every time the dog barked. Really. Then, after 3 of those have been filed, they will issue a formal fine to the owners. It requires 3 fines before the said owners are allowed to be taken to court in which, whoever filed the complaints is required to show up in person and testify. Good grief. We had better luck calling the Sheriff's office because they get really upset when they have to come out for those calls...but disturbing the peace is disturbing the peace.

I hate to say, we found no resolution all around. We were nice and mentioned it to the neighbors but I don't think they cared much. Fortunately not one, but TWO sheriffs moved into the house across from both of us. It was one of the best days of my life. LOL. Since then, they keep the dog inside and I've noticed the woman comes home periodically to let her out. I've always since made friends with the mongrel (I'm totally jesting, I love animals) but tossing treats over the fence to her. Now that she knows us and knows our smell, she at least has stopped barking when she sees us in the yard or outside.
