When we moved into our house 8 years ago, our neighbors brought over a peach cobbler. :thumbsup2 I thought that was very nice of them and not expected.

Those neighbors moved out last week and new neighbors should be moving in any day now. I'm guessing this weekend.

I'd like to get them a welcome gift, but I don't really cook or bake.

Any suggestions? Would flowers or a plant be OK?

I believe it is a family with 2 young girls and a baby due any day now.

ETA: They are not new to the neighborhood. They are just moving into a bigger home and are from the same town.

A plant of flowers is great (even a plant that they can plant outside later, like an Azalea)
OTher ideas besides a baked good:
A gift certificate to a great local pizzeria (okay, so they aren't new to the neighborhood, so maybe not)
a coffee basket: a couple mugs, some coffee, a box of biscotti, some flavored creamers or Davinci syrups
A bottle of wine or champagne

I usually do a movie/pizza gift for new neighbors. I figure sometimes you have to wait for cable or internet to be installed and those first few days can be a bit boring if there are kiddos in the family.
I buy a big popcorn bucket (you pop it in the microwave, it's just in a bucket instead of a bag), and put in movie size candies, a gift certificate to a local rental place, and a gift certificate to a pizza place. (take and bake if it's available because it's more affordable) I tie it up with some cellophane and a bright ribbon and a welcome to the neighborhood card.

Something that has always been a tradition amongst my people includes a welcome gift for those moving into a new house in order to help bless the home:

Bread – So you never go hungry.
Wine/Sparkling Juice – That you may never go thirsty.
Salt/a Coin – That you may always prosper. (Salt used to be a form of payment long, long ago.)
And a Candle – So that you always know light and warmth.

It's outside the norm I know - but I know you will get a truck load of "normal" options from the dis - I thought I would offer something a bit outside the box.
