I have an interesting problem. I have been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember. That cute little pre-puberty fat that all girls get never went away with puberty and continued to get worse as I got older. I ballooned up to size 18 when I was in high school and only came down from there when a terrible disease took me from obese to fragile. When I went into remission, the weight slowly crept back on. Traditionally I hover around 212 lbs (size 12 on a good day more like a 14 though), but over the summer I gained over 10 lbs (to 224 lbs to be exact) and I couldn’t seem to make the scale go back to 212, let alone 165 (size 6 or 8) or so like it should be! I have done the physical trainer thing, but stopped when my normal 212 turned into 214 and it refused to go back to 212. Before the holidays, I went to a nutritionist and she diagnosed me with a few deficiencies and told me I was exercising too much and putting myself in starvation mode, hence why, despite low cal and lots of exercise, I managed to GAIN weight. Around the holidays it was hard to stick to her plan, but as of Jan 6, I have been following it as best as I can and I am pleased to announce I am down to 217. I really want to start this month at 215, but all in all I am not doing bad. 7lbs in three weeks is pretty good when I actually think about it. My nutritionist’s prescribed diet is not easy to maintain, so I am looking for all the motivation I can get to help me. My hope is that as I get closer to my ideal weight, my body will be able to undo the damage my illness caused and allow me to live a normal life eating normal food (and normal amounts as well.) I don’t even want to tell you how much protein I am supposed to consume a day!

So anyway, thanks for reading the rambling weight history of me. I just found WISH this afternoon, so I look forward to reading all of your stories!

Hi, Raen. I found out last year that I have celiac disease, so I am also undoing damage from an illness. I have to eat lots of protein, too, to rebuild tissue and to stay low carb (it is better for my blood sugar - I am diabetic). Anyway, this is a great place to get support and encouragement. Just give your eating plan and exercise routine your best shot - we'll help you hang tough! Hope you have a great day!

Susan

I know how hard it is to loose weight. If you don't mind sharing your prescribed diet and what about it is "hard" some of us might be able to suggest changes that you can run by your nutritionst that would make it easier to maintain.

Good luck and keep up the good work. 7 lbs in 3 weeks is a very good rate of weight loss.:thumbsup2

Raen:

Welcome to WISH! No advice here, just  and I wanted to let you know that I think what you've accomplished is phenomenal. You're learning to live with the challenges of your disease (in or out of remission), you're working a nutritionist (and a doctor, I assume). You've gone to a trainer (and might again). You're following guidelines to not only lose weight but to improve your overall health--it's a lifestyle change. And you've come to the WISH boards for that extra support & motivation.

Those 7 pounds, which are in themselves quite an accomplishment, are just a sign of everything else you're doing right!

I hope you stick around and enjoy all WISH has to offer!

Welcome!!!! It sounds like you are making some progress so keep up the good work!!! I was working out and listening to Disney music tonight and a lyric caught me and was very meaningful to me anyway...

Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart's the power
For making you
A hero too
So don't lose hope when you're forlorn
Just keep your eyes upon the skies
Ev'ry night a star is
Right in sight a star is
Burning bring a star is born
- A Star is Born from Hercules

I dunno why it suck with me but there it is :)

Have a good one!!!! :cheer2: :flower3:

That is why I love these boards. Everyone is so nice!

Thanks for all your well wishes
