***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

Hi all, here's a question- I received my bands in the mail, picked my fp+ attractions and checked into my resort already online. Do I need to go to my hotel first to check in (AKL) or can I head straight to MK at rope drop (as I'm hoping I can without checking in physically until 2 or so).

Thanks so much for any help. :)

For the people staying up until midnight to book FP+...that's really not necessary. I waited until I got home from work (about 4 PM Central time) to book mine on my 60 day mark this past week and I got everything I wanted at times I wanted. And yes, I ride the big rides (I have FP+ booked for TT, Soarin, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, EE, Safari, RnRC, among others). No need to lose sleep over FP+.

And...there are very few restaurants that require you to be online at the stroke of midnight to get a reservation. I booked 'Ohana 180 days out at around 7 AM CST and got a 5:15 PM reservation. I know that 'Ohana is one of the more popular restaurants at Disney but I had no problems.

I think the old system is broken because it is made for people who rush to the park early in the day instead of for people who come later in the day or paid extra to switch parks midday so I'm happy that they're changing to FP+. I don't know if I'll wake up at midnight to get FP+ but probably will just take my chances the next morning. I'll have a better chance of getting what I need than switching parks midday and hoping there are still FP-s left.

If they didn't put so many restrictions on FP+, I might agree. But, you can't get FP+ at more than one park in one day, so your hopping point doesn't really hold value. And having tiers, a limit of 3, and not being able to choose the same ride more than once is where they lost me. I, too, thought the idea of getting late in the day FPs was going to be cool... But they've sucked the fun out if it. Let's hope some of these test periods provide for more leniency. :)

Just an FYI, but they've removed the link to the Terms and Conditions page from the link section on most of the MDX web pages.

The page still exists, but I had to go to the MagicBands and Cards page, then follow the Privacy link, and there is a link to it there.

It was also apparently updated a month ago, although I didn't notice any meaningful changes.

So odd.

Not sure how it happened or why (glitch?), but I was messing around hitting the request fastpass+ button, knowing I couldn't book until 60 days, when lo and behold it let me get passed the step where it usually gives the message that you cant book yet! :dance3: This was the Mobile App by the way....the MDX website still wont let me book.

I was able to book through "fastpicks", then I was able to change the attractions and times. It only offered me Epcot, other parks were not available yet. Still....mega stoked! :cool1:

For those wondering, this was for February 17. Maybe other parks will open sooner than 60 days?

Actually, the hopping point does hold value, because you can book FP+ for the SECOND (or third, or fourth) you hop to after enjoying the early low-lines hours at your first park. Many people have posted this as a perk to FP+ for people who like to parkhop.

Unless of course FP+ pushes people to come earlier in the day and eliminates the point of RD, so instead you get to stand in a bunch of lines before you hop over and use your FP+ instead of just RDing, for a couple hours using some FP, riding with very short stand by, then hopping using more FPs ...

I know this is a little off topic but just an FYI - all of my dinning reservations(made well before Nov 19th) are now showing as "Guaranteed by Credit Card". There is also a contradiction in terms - the info button on MDE says the reservation must be cancelled 48 hours prior, while the FAQ's say 11:59pm EST the day prior.

I have sent an email to Disney and will be calling tomorrow.

Most of my reservations did not require a CC guarantee when I made them.

I would start a different thread on this as it's a bit off topic and it could get lost. I just went to check mine and got the same thing. ALL my ADR's say they are guaranteed with a credit card?? This will be a problem if they use my number that I used to guarantee ONE of them (CRT) because I did not give permission for use and I also don't keep a CC on file for them to use. I don't plan on missing any of my ADR's but this bothers me since I did not give permission for a CC hold on these reservations.

Let's worry about that if it ever happens. By then the rules for FP+ probably would have changed anyway.

I noticed this for the for the first time, too. Yesterday, when I made a new ADR for Jan trip, I ran down to get my CC to put the hold on it. But once I made the ADR it gave me a log in box, and once I logged in it already had my CC info on the page and said guaranteed to CC #---- (last 4 digits). Once I finished the reservation, it was automatically linked to my MDEx account, too. We are all in the system now;) and they are automatically linking everything.
If you want to use a different CC for that ADR I would suggest you call and have it switched (but then be aware that they will probably be storing that CC in your profile also). I make very few ADRs since they started the CC guarantee - we just change plans too often to pay WDW fees for tables they will surely fill and that I have previously always cancelled hours in advance - I only make the 1 or 2 I know we "must do".

There has been some concern that these are "ghost" FPs. That they show up on your itinerary, but are not really there. At 60 days out (a few days ago), I was able to get everything that we wanted. Some that I had picked prior to that using "fastpicks" didn't show up to edit. So, I made other pics. The "ghost" ones still show up - so it looks like we have more that 3. This is all confusing, but I would call someone in IT if you are concerned about their "reality" after your 60 days. Just wanted you to know! Hope it helps!!

Yup, let's agree to disagree, until then ;)

I am trying to figure out this Fast Pass+ and getting confused! We are staying at Pop with free dining mid-February and have already customized our Magic Bands but that's all we have done. Now, my sister-in-law and her family have decided to come down with us, but they are staying at the Grand Floridian. Is there a chance we will have FP+ and they will not? It seems like that would be a nightmare if we want to tour the parks together!

Now that we are going with them, we plan to have sit-down dinners and are thinking of upgrading to a moderate to get the regular dining plan - would we more likely to have the same type of fast passes as them if we did that? Or is it all up in the air? Thanks for any help!

As of Oct. 31st, a credit card guarantee is required at all table service restaurants. If you made them prior to Oct 31st, it is possible the site just says that for all ADRs regardless of whether there actually is one or not.

The actual date for this was pushed back to Nov 19th but either way all of my reservations were made well before both of these dates. You are correct in the fact that once this went into affect the site just says that for all of the ADRs no matter when they were made.

I guess no one else is concerned that the cancellation time period says 48 hours instead of the night before. Might be a "glitch" but we will see.

I don't plan on missing any of my ADRs so probably won't be a problem for us, but if I do cancel and not within the cancellation period and I get charged, Disney will have a fight on their hands.

There is a thread about this on the restaurant board but not many people are talking on it. I don't know about you, but I don't regularly read the restaurant boards so probably would not have noticed this except someone posted it on a FB group I am following.

Just trying to share so others know of the changes being made to MDE.

We have one day passes left from years ago (stay 7 pay 4 days special). We always traded in old one day passes for APs when we got to Disney. If we do this will I still be able to make FP+ before we get to Disney? We are booked in a Disney resort if that makes a difference.
