New Mustangs - reliable?

I'm seriously considering a new (likely preowned) style Mustang for my next car purchase. However.... I typically drive imports for reliability. I've had Maximas, a Honda, and currently drive a very gas-efficient Mazda 3 5-door. It doesn't look like Consumer Reports rates the Mustang very high on it's list of reliable vehicles. Do any of you have one, and if so, how have you liked it/how reliable has it been or is it a piece of junk? How about the overall quality?

I bought a 96 mustang gt a year ago. It currenlty has nearly 200,000 miles on it with no problems. I love my car. I've made the decision that since the body is in really good shape I'll just save for a major overhaul when needed. The newer mustangs from 96 up when they went to the 4.6liter dohc motors have a good reputation as far as I know. There is a good message board called allfordmustang.com I believe. Go there and post some questions about what to look for. They know what weak spots there were in various years

I have a 2003 Mustang GT with about 44,000 miles on it. I bought it new and the only time I ever had a problem was when the battery died. But that happens with any car. I've owned quite a few Mustangs over the years and have never had any problems with them.

I sold my 2003 GT last month. I bought it new and loved driving it, it didn't have really any mechanical issues. That said, I've gone through several new vehicles the past 10 years (VW, Nissan, Durango, Honda) and I can easily say that the Stang had the most rattles and noise. Nothing huge but notable.

It was so much fun to drive though...of course the day I drove it to sell it there were sunny blue skies and warm weather, I almost turned around. ;)

i test drove a new one over the weekend about 1 month ago,it was a GT.We loved the car but after driving it,it was not a practical car for us.Bt let me tell ya it was Awesome.i would have loved to have it but just couldnt do it.if we were not planning on kids and i didnt already have a nephew then yes it would be in my driveway now
