Screamscape confirms that a new movie will be made for the post ride theatre in Norway in time for it's centennial next year. Ever notice how only about a third of the people sit down and watch the current film after the Maelstrom ride?

I don't mind sitting thru the movie occasionally. I'm sitting. It's air conditioned. Why rush outside ?

I am glad they are getting a new film though.

That's good. Change is always welcome to bring some new flavors to Epcot.

Yes, I feel bad for the Norway CM's when all those people just rush out of the theater.

I enjoy the movie, especially the young mother on the picnic watching her son run around. Man, she's a cutie! And the chairs in the theater are awesome.

The movie in Norway is one of my personal favorites. Sure, it cannot compare to the scope of Impressions de France, but neither was it meant to. I look forward to the new film but I will certainly miss the original. I especially love the music.

I have to wonder if this movie is so underrated simply because so many people skip it. First-timers see others exiting immediately and follow (note the responses in the CB thread of those who never saw the film, or don't even remember it. Any chance at least a few of them might have liked it?).

We once passed on Illuminations (saw it another night anyway) to see this film. It was maybe 8:55 when we got off the Maelstrom; a door was open behind the CM for guests to directly exit the attraction if they so chose. We were the only persons to stay for the film, and hence were treated to a private showing. It was great (and I think the Norway CM was pleased we appreciated her country's movie).

We make a point to stop occaisonally and see the film. I do feel bad rushing through there, the wonderful Norwegian CMs have no idea that we end up riding the Maelstrom some 10 to 15 times a year. Watching the movie that many times would be tough.

Another thing that makes it tough to sit thru is when just as you're getting off the boat, the doors close to the theater. Waiting for the next showing feels like they're showing Titanic.

On a similar note, people might not want to sit down after a ride and watch a movie. I can't get through the TAG Heuer/ Troll retail assault in Norway and cross the border fast enough to get a margarita as it is without a movie about the wonders of the Fjord slowing me down.

C'mon now, it's a lake.

I guess I'm just a big sucker for that movie! It would be interesting to see a new movie, though.

I must admit that I'll miss the music that they play toward the end of it...for some reason, I really like it. I always wished I could find a copy of it somewhere, lol.

Yeah, I'm a huge dork! :)

I like the movie, but my kids won't sit through it. They just charge through to see the trolls & ride Maelstrom yet again! Perhaps they might stop to see a new movie?:(

Change can be good. Disney goes for the senses. A new film here could get people to slow down and take a look. I would. I have seen it once and it was good, but my kids go for the action and that movie wont get their attention anymore.

I am sure Stitch is bound to be in the new movie. ;) :jester: He's everywhere these days. :jester:

The movie is just fine despite the protestations of some folks. It is dated and a new one is always welcome, btw, is there a new one in China?

I agree with my friend gcurling that the Norse CM's are among the best (and not just the females altough they aremy favorites).:teeth:

I had no idea the Norway pavillion was that old...

Yeah, China got a new movie earlier this year.

I thought the Norway movie was fine, but I only wanted to see it so many times. It's not a favorite that I wanted to see over and over.

Yes, I'm a sap, and this movie is one of my favorites (although the print they show has needed replacement for years - lots of dirt and scratches make the show less appealing and just look plain old). I was always disappointed to see people walk through and skip it .. I will be sad to see it go ... and like some of you have mentioned, I will really miss the music at the end. It has always reminded me of some sort of an escape ...

But .. maybe a new movie will interest a new and bigger audience.

After the Norway movie is updated, the Canada movie could use some updating too. It hasn't changed since Epcot opened back in 1982.

Main thing with the Canada movie is that the standing up to watch it for what seems like ages, after having usually trekked for miles round the park first is a killer!
