New Monorail Hours seriously messing up my schedule? Suggestions?

Thank you! I'm assuming there will be signage so hope we'll be ok. My ADR isn't until 7/1 so hoping to hear other people's experiences before then. Would be very sad if we have to cancel our ADR because of this.

You don't need to cancel. Just valet park at the Contemporary and walk to the Magic Kingdom.

The busses will run from the "Mouse House" at the TTC (at least thats how we used to do it). This area is between the right side of the monorail ramp and the left side of the gift shop.

I didn't know there were buses that ran from TTC to MK. We've always taken the monorail or ferry. Where would we catch a bus at TTC? TIA!

Yes, the entrance is normally inside the TTC gates, to the right of the monorails. If the express buses to MK are running, there will be transportation cm's directing Guests to them. In addition to running when the monorail is down, they also run on very busy mornings to supplement the monorail's capacity.

The main bus lot at TTC is outside of the gates, to the right of the gift shop. Buses to Epcot (when the Epcot Monorail is down) usually board there.

Disney should definitely offer some sort of compensation for doing this at such short notice. I know there really isn't an "off season" anymore but the fact is they are charging more to stay at these hotels at this time of year than they do the others. I know construction can also seem unplanned sometimes, but this seems to be a planned update. Isn't their whole new motto "plan your entire trip beforehand"! What's the point of selecting ADRs at 180 days if they quickly change your ability to get from point A to point B and there are no more ADRs left? I know nothing is guaranteed, but with all the Polynesian construction going on, they were honest about the closures and the dust and sent people out letters well in advance explaining the potential issues of staying there. The fact that people are paying so much for the monorail and it won't even be accessible at park open or close and that this will be a surprise to most people checking in, is definitely unfair and seems sneaky on Disney's part. Luckily, Mom isn't in a wheelchair, but I'm really feeling for all of you people who relied on the monorail for accessible transport! :(

When the monorail goes down, other options are provided. The fact that this is a scheduled outage makes it even easier for Disney to address. I don't understand why this would seriously mess up your plans since other options will be provided.

Because it has the potential to add about an hour to all of our mornings, we are an older family and mornings aren't really are strong suit. So yes, it does seriously mess up the plans I made well in advance , because the rest of my family will probably not be willing to add on this extra hour to their morning, forcing me to rearrange plans, find last minute ADRs, etc.

If you have relatives with mobility problems, I would suggest not waiting until the park closes to leave, to be honest. Why deal with a mob scene?

I'm sorry but I am not seeing how it's adding an hour to your day. You are atill driving to the same place and parking but instead of a monorail you are getting on a ferry or bus? Where is the added time?

IMO, you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. There's a very good chance that the planned bus service won't cost you any significant time and certainly not a full hour. Especially at that time in the morning.

If you were THAT concerned, you could spend the $20 to valet at Contemporary for the day.

If this were not our last day that is what I would do. However, this is our last day and we want to make the most of it. We are planning on leaving right from MK to head to the airport and don't want the added time of having to go to the Contemporary to get our car out of valet. Or will this not add any time to our departure? (Have never valet parked at one of the resorts so don't really know what all is involved.)

I'm assuming there will be enough alternate transportation available to get us there by 7:45am. Just want to be prepared and know what all my options are. :)

You can walk to an from mk and the contemporary. It takes about five to ten minutes. So instead of taking a monorail/ferry/bus to ttc and then a tram to your car, you walk, give your ticket (and tip) to the valet and they bring your car around. You hop in an leave. Maybe five minutes at the hotel unless it's a busy time.

I have a 9:15 am breakfast reservation at Epcot in very early Sep. If the Epcot monorail line doesn't open until 9, I don't see how I would possibly make a 9:15 reservation? Is there another way to get from the contemporary to Epcot other than monorail? I would prefer monorail though...should I change my ressie to like 9:30????

Well I'm allowing an hour for the bus to get us to the Polynesian to MK, because that's what it seems to take when the park closes, this is allowing us time for waiting for the bus, loading/unloading any guests with wheelchairs/strollers, and other situations. It's recommended expect it to take 45 minutes to get anywhere on Disney world property by bus, plus I'm adding 15 minutes of waiting for the bus. So it seems like it will only add about a half hour to all of our mornings, but that's still a lot of time when you're looking at 6:30am vs 7am, etc. Also, I came here to get advice on how to get transportation from the Poly to MK without use of the monorail, not to be told that this 100% wouldn't effect the plans I've personally made that you haven't seen. Like I said we're frequent visitors, so my mom has closed the parks dozens of times despite her mobility issues and will continue to until she decides she doesn't want to anymore. Personally having left the park at close and after Wishes from busses, ferry, the monorail to TTC, and the resort monorail, it does seem that the resort monorail is always the least crowded/easiest on my mother-and luckily she's not in a wheelchair but it seems other posters were relying on the access of the monorail due to larger mobility issues. We'll just have to wait and see if Disney actually manages to accommodate those guests properly with their added options.

It's been said on the board already that Disney will add buses. You shouldn't have a problem.

I don't want to take buses more than I have to (one reason I stayed at a monorail resort) so I guess i'll just keep the reservation and see what happens come September.

Unless you are picking up after midnight when staff is scarce, valet at the CR is the quickest getaway possible from the MK, IMO. You can be out the gate and getting into your car in 15 minutes if you are a fast walker. (To give you an idea, I think that walk from the gates up the monorail ramp to the loading area is equivalent to about 1/3 of the distance to the CR. MK to CR is around 500 yards.) Unless you are limping, it shouldn't take more then 45 minutes at the outside to get there and get your car. If you wish to save even more time, ask for the direct phone number to the valet stand so that you can call with your ticket number as you are walking, so that they know you are on your way over.

Actually Disney recommends you allow 90 minutes to get anywhere using their transportation, not 45 minutes. Ninety minutes is usually over-kill, but sometimes you need every one of those minutes.

I've also only ridden the ferryboat from TTC to MK once- I remember it taking a long time but can't quite remember?

I was told by a CM the ferry and express monorail take about the same amount of time. The monorail goes faster but has a longer route. Every time I looked the time appears to be about the same.

I'm not sure why you think it's going to add an hour. It might not add any time. It could save time. You're assuming Disney won't be adding enough buses and/or boats to meet demand. A bus to EPCOT might take less time then taking the resort monorail to the TTC then transferring to the EPCOT monorail.

The biggest issue. You want to be at the MK at, or shortly after, rope drop your first day. You're staying at the Gaylord Palms the night before. That's going to require an early start to your day, with or without the monorail.

Plus tip. None of that money goes to the Valets.
