New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Quick question for all the ladies out there. I have been instructed to plan on some sort of restricted "house arrest" at 28 weeks, and everything (nursery, showers, travel etc) needs to be done by then. My friends have already started planning the shower for around 26 weeks, so thats good. However, when do I start to register and/or buy stuff. I've been doing lots of research, so I'm getting a good idea of what we need and what is good. I just don't know when to start picking stuff up or putting it on the registry. Any thoughts?

I would start registering around 18 weeks. You can add to your registry later if you find more you need/want.

I'm just checking in. We had our NT scan/twin meeting last week. They moved my DD up to Nov 26th, and of course, twins never bake quite as long as a single, so we're planning an early-mid November apperance.

The babies look great, and the tech put the whole ultrasound (45 minutes, good lord, I had to use the facilities after!) on DVD. DH was out of town for work, and so he got to see it too.

Hi there! That piece of advice was hands down the best I got with this twin pregnancy! I was put on bedrest at just shy of 28 weeks, even with no complications prior and very little weight gain -- my cervix just stopped holding up working long hours. If you have everything done at that point you'll be bored out of your mind waiting for the babies to come, but it's better than the alternative (or at least I keep telling myself that! ).

As for registering, we did it as soon as we had our Level II and found out the genders. We were just around 19 weeks.

Ditto what everyone has said. We registered sometime in September (babies were due in Dec, arrived Nov. 11). And actually, my shower was held the Sunday bafore the twins arrived. We would have had enough to get by, but I would go ahead and have a shower earlier versus later! Another thing we thought about though was that if we registered too early, some things tend to go clearance before anyone can buy them..mainly this happens at places like Target though, not Toys r us.
The day after my shower, my mom went out (since i was on bedrest) with my list, cash, and gift cards we had gotten and bought everyting else we needed that we didnt get...we registered for anything and everything that we thought people might buy though.

Well had my sonogram today. Baby is healthy doing good looked like it was diving for awhile might be a swimmer like mommy We found out that we are having a lil girl!!!!!!!!! I was praying for a girl told hubby it was a girl and i was right Her name will be Emily Donnamarie. my mom's name was Donna Maria so we put it togther and changed it to marie cause it sounds better. Emily was my grandmother my mom's mom. I get a lil princess am sooo happy now

We had our 2nd OB appointment today and our 1st ultrasound - it was magical - that's the best way I can describe it!! We have one beautiful baby measuring 8 weeks 5 days. His/her heart was beating at 169 beats per minute!! My due date remains January 2, 2009. This was the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced I was in tears, my mom was in tears, and even hubby teared up a little. It is such a miracle and I can't wait to watch our little one grow!

We are only 5 weeks and not due until Jan. 28th! We are so excited and while I would love another boy, I am PRAYING for a little princess!

I've had 3 high risk pregnancies in the past and have been put through the ringer. This time we've decided to eliminate the high-risk doctor, so wish me luck in fighting my Ob/Gyn. We go for our first appointment on June 23rd....it seems so far away!

Congratulations to everyone here and I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Well ladies, the last 7+ months have been fun , but it appears I'm going to have to just put a time frame on my list-duties. When I went on bedrest 6 weeks ago, we were quite sure I wouldn't make it to the beginning of June. It appears we will, but obviously my time is getting closer and closer. Assuming I make it to next Friday (June 6), I will have to step down from said role at that point. I really hope someone is willing to take it over then, so all of our new mommies-to-be aren't left high and dry!

Yeah, I can sympathize! I remember after my c section all I could say to anyone is how much better I felt! The first thing I had when I got to my room after was a diet pepsi! I did hurt like two days later, but soon discovered that percocet was my best friend , and I discovered that I could function and go visit the babies during the day if I only took one percocet and took 2 at night! I recovered really quickly and only really had a couple of days of yuckiness.
So, I highly recommend the percocet, but you probably know that already!
