New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Oh Tink, I'm saying a prayer those little girls stay in there and bake a little while longer. I stayed one night in the hospital early on with my twins and they went ahead and did the steroid shots for their lungs at that time just in case. They were both healthy and breathing on their own when they were born at 36 weeks. (Well Andrew needed a little help -which no one told me- but he wasn't on there for more than an hour or so).

Going for a 3D ultrasound in the morning. I'm super excited!

Freyja~ Congratulations!! He's adorable and you look great! My dd weighed the same as he did when she was born but I had a c-section with her.

Tink~ Good luck! Hopefully the twins will stay put a while longer! I hope you can get a volunteer to take over the list. I would do it if I weren't so close to my c-section date too. I am sure someone that isn't quite as far along will be glad to take over soon though.

Octoberbeauty~ Good luck with the 3D tomorrow! I hope your little boy cooperatates better than mine did! I had mine done a couple weeks ago and he was measuring big and blocking all of the shots so they were all fuzzy. We were able to confirm that he is definitely a boy though and I got to see him sucking on his fist so it was worth it. Oh, and I had it done at my school so it was free so I'm definitely not complaining!

As for me, I had my shower on Saturday and it was really nice. We finally got my dd, who recently turned 3, out of her crib last week too and into a toddler bed so we don't need to worry about buying a new crib which is a relief. It was really hard to get her to give it up since we've tried multiple times but this time was the charm and she's done great. Now we just need to get the baby's room ready and set up. I only have 4 weeks till my c-section date unless he comes earlier and time is just flying by for me which has me both relieved and anxious! Relieved because my SPD is getting increasingly worse and I have been in some serious pain lately and anxious because I feel like there is still a lot left to do before then. It will all work out though, I know.

Hope everyone is well! :)

Freyja- congrats and I wish you a speedy recovery (he was huge) yikes!!

YOu look wonderful!! This is your 5th? :worship:

Thanks! I´m really doing great :)
He really didn´t seem to huge, his sis was even bigger. The "active" birth only took 2 1/2 hours and was unmedicated, so it really wasn´t that bad :rotfl:
And yep, he´s our 5th.:lovestruc

Thanks for all the well-wishes! I slept about 80 minutes, not all in a row, and feel like crap. Both babies did great on the monitor, but I don't think that was a valid concern to begin with. I have no clue when the rescan is today, but I know the Peri's office doesn't even open until 9. Then I have to also work around the on-call OB's schedule (which obviously includes deliveries and OR time).... so I could be here a while. I'll keep you posted!

Octoberbeauty -- have fun at your 3DUS today! I absolutely loved ours, but wish it had been a bit cheaper (or free! ;)) I talked to the OB at length yesterday about steroid shots, and since I'm holding the girls in (sort of, anyway), they'll wait until I show more signs of imminent delivery, or until I hit 34ish weeks. If they don't like what they see today, however, then I'll get them today and tomorrow because they'll be here a lot sooner, like it or not!

Tasha -- 4 weeks? I guess you're right. That still seems like ages away to me! We knew about likely bedrest, etc though, so I've been sitting around with nothing to do! I'm sure it would fly by a bit better if I were still busy. I'm glad you got your DD out of the crib... I'm sure that's a huge relief! :goodvibes

Tink - So sorry about being in the hospital, but I am glad your cervix is still closed. I agree that bedrest is the absolute worst and most boring thing. It allows me to sit in bed and get caught up on the laundry that DH will put away, but where is the fun in that!?:lmao: I hope that things keep looking ok, and the babies are healthy and patient a bit longer.

just got back from our doctors appointment. THere were a few suprises...nothing bad of course! First suprise is that my due date is 2 weeks earlier now at 09-25-08 instead of 10-09-08. So that makes me almost 22 wks instead of just hitting the 20mark. The second was that it is a boy. I was pretty sure it was a girl..so I guess I was wrong..:lmao: I had a nice girls name picked out that I liked but never really thought of a boys name since I didn;t think it was one. Back to the drawing board. Baby weighs 1lb. They think he might be a bigger baby since I know the date of my last period so my dates are right...which is very possible since DH is 6'4" and his whole family is tall and his sister had big babies. But the bad new is if it is a bigger baby (which the doc says still has plenty of time to figure itself out) is that I am only 5'2" and I don;t think there would be that much room for that big of a baby which would probably mean a c-section which I am not too crazed about...but if that is how it needs to be done then I guess I do not have much of a choice.
We're going tonight to show the grandparents the ultrasound pics but only my mom knows the sex...because she figured it out only. I had gotten them a baby frame which I was going to put an ultrasound pic in but they were not that good of shots, so I might wait on that part. But I was watching the view the friday before mothers day, they were showing this book. Its called the Grandmother book...a book all about you for your grandchild. So I ordered it off barnes &noble and obviously did not get it intime for mothers day...so i am going to give to them tonight. It looks really cool. I also got ones for DH grandma and my grandma so they too can fill it out since who know how long our child would get to know them. Now to find one of those books for grandfathers...they have a story too!!:confused3 I think its a great idea for your mothers to give to their grandchildren!

Hi everyone.. It's been a long time since I've been on here.
I'm still on Terbutaline for my 'irratable uterus' and have been resting at home. I'm almost 31 weeks. I went for a detailed ultrasound today and baby is weighing in at 3lbs 12 ounces!! I am getting so nervous about giving birth!!!! I'm so scared. The 3D pic in my sig is from week 28. My closet is filled with baby clothes. I can't wait to have her!! (Except for the pain part. lol) Her room is almost done. But since I'm not getting a shower since I'm on 'bedrest', so we'll have to get everything we need ourselves. Actually my mother has gotten us so much already.
I'm so glad to know that my baby weighs enough now that if anything happened, most likely she'll be OK. Though I don't think shes coming anytime soon. My cervix has actually been getting LONGER in the past 4 weeks. Went from 3.3cm 4 weeks ago and today it was 4.2cm!
Hope everyone is doing well!

Getting to see Noah in 3D was an AMAZING experience! He is just too cute! He's a big baby already though. Weighs 5lb 8oz (at 34 weeks!), has big chubby cheeks, Huge feet (just like mama!), Daddy's nose and Mommy's mouth, and Hair! He has quite a bit of hair. Both Andrew and Macy were bald, so we're thinking that maybe he will have my dark hair too. :) He was pretty shy though and kept his hands in front of his face most of the time so that we never got a really great face on shot, but it was still totally worth the $$ to do this!

Thanks everyone. :) After seeing him on the screen, it's made me even more anxious to get my hands on him!! Can't wait to hold him and love all over him. lol

Disneymooner, good luck with your ultrasound. Seems like so long ago that I had my first one with Noah. Feels like I've been pregnant forever and yet it seems short too. Weird!

Noah is cute! I am dying to get my hands on Audrey already too. I also feel like I have been pregnant for ages!

Congratulations, both on the little boy AND being 2 weeks farther along! ;) :goodvibes

I am so sorry I never updated this thread after we got back from the hospital! :( I came home in the afternoon of 5/21, and we're just monitoring fluid levels, etc very closely. Both babies did well on the monitors overnight, but my contractions were a bit concerning. They haven't changed any for the last few weeks, but they are definitely regular (about every 8 minutes for a few hours at a time), and very strong (measuring up with the active labor phase). I'm sure that's why I've had changes, but at least they aren't getting closer together. Their concern now is that it is sort of "true labor", just that my uterus is not strong enough to be super effective. That's ok obviously, at this point. It's also ok since I have a c/s scheduled anyway, so I don't have to worry about failure to progress (which would be the other concern).

On the repeat BPP and growth check, they think both babies are at about 2kg, which was our goal. They couldn't get a great set of measurements though, so I think they'll repeat it at Tuesday's scan.

I hope you all are doing well, and enjoying this Memorial Day weekend! I've been reclining outside a bit the last few days, which does wonders to lift the mood!

Take care! :grouphug:

Jennifer, I am glad you are okay and still hanging in there! Keep us updated when you can!

I'm just checking in. We had our NT scan/twin meeting last week. They moved my DD up to Nov 26th, and of course, twins never bake quite as long as a single, so we're planning an early-mid November apperance.

The babies look great, and the tech put the whole ultrasound (45 minutes, good lord, I had to use the facilities after!) on DVD. DH was out of town for work, and so he got to see it too.

Quick question for all the ladies out there. I have been instructed to plan on some sort of restricted "house arrest" at 28 weeks, and everything (nursery, showers, travel etc) needs to be done by then. My friends have already started planning the shower for around 26 weeks, so thats good. However, when do I start to register and/or buy stuff. I've been doing lots of research, so I'm getting a good idea of what we need and what is good. I just don't know when to start picking stuff up or putting it on the registry. Any thoughts?

Since your shower is not a surprise, can you find out when the invitations are going out? I would make sure the registries are done by then. Even though people don't buy right away, they may check online right away to see where you are registered. I registered as soon as I knew the gender- I swear it was like the next day! If you aren't finding out, I'd start now!
