When I gave birth to my first son, we named him Ian. This was almost 23 years ago (Funny, seems like just yesterday lol) and it was even more uncommon then. I had some visitors stop by my hospital room cooing over my baby boy. They asked me, "What did you name him" My mind went totally blank, I forgot his name! They looked at me, waiting.
I mumbled something like, ummmm it starts with an I .
I laugh about it now, but boy did I feel Stupid!!!

Please don't tell me that I'm the only one this has ever happened to.

I never forgot their names then, but boy! You should hear me trying to remember their names now!! LOL!!!

"Brit.....Brad...Gar.....I mean Selena......no Destiny?!!!! Oh heck!! You kids stop it!!!!!!"

Never forgot their names but I ALWAYS forget their birthdates! Not their actual birthdays mind you, just if I have to fill out insurance papers, school stuff or something and they ask for the birth date...I draw a blank! It doesn't help that they are 3 days apart because once I remember most of it I have to go through and keep the days straight.

Let's see,Keifer you were born before Dylan so that means you have this date so......pathetic:rolleyes:

I didn't forget their names back then, but they get really frustrated now when I hollar for them and say everyone's name including the dog's before I get to it. lol

NO but my mil and my mother both called my dd by the wrong name on the same day..... her name is Megan Alyssa and they both called her Melissa that day at different times. Being postpartum I didn't take it well. I think I cried.

I never forgot my son's name, but I did forget that I was the MOTHER once.

I was filling out forms for day care, when I got to the part that said mother's name I wrote my mom's name instead of mine.:)

LOL, Ranatra! I never forgot my kids names, but when Cameron "Austin" was born, I got a card from MIL calling him Cameron "Justin".
I also find myself calling them the wrong names now. At least once a day I yell "Cam..Colton", and then I laugh because I think of my user name. ;)

That is soo funny! My mind draws a blank sometimes! It happens to everybody!

I never forgot, but I did send the birth certificate lady away 5 times in 3 days because I didn't have a name yet.

Don't ask me what I thought you were going to say when I opened this thread.

You don't want to know. :o

LOL, JJ...oh, please share! ;)

I had a c-section with my second son, and lot's of meds. My friends came to visit and I was convinced, in my drug induced stupor, that I had a baby girl! They still laugh about it...but they didn't know what to say at the time. :p

I never forgot then, but I do now. All 4 of my boys names start w/ "J", so I go down the list until I get the right name! LOL

my dad had the same problem were all R's and when he would yell at us he would go through the list! Bob (Robert) ,Rick, Rod, ROBINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

My kids are a C and 2 K's and we have that problem a bit too lol

 I called my ds by my dog's name the first time I nursed him. It was awful, it made me laugh hard and I had just had a c-section. DH has never let me forget it either

Well, I didn't really forget his name, I just forgot that he was mine for a little bit.

We went in for his 2wk check up and the nurse came out and called the name "Michael" a couple of times and it took me a while to realize that was us :)

My first son is Steven Michael... we had planned to ( and do) call him Steven. My DH called him Michael so much the first week I finally asked if he wanted to name him Michael Steven ( I have a 'thing' about going by middle names... ) he said no, I don't think so.. and Finally started calling him Steven! Funny thing is, DH picked out the name!

Now I woke up one night ( or rather didn't wake all the way up) and was convinced that the baby was some where in the bed.. I starting pulling all the pillows and blankets off the bed and even took all the pillows out of the pillow cases! and was in tears that I couldn't find my baby. My hubby finally went and got the poor baby out of his crib and brought him to me and I still looked for a few more minutes before i believed that he had the real baby. post partum, who needs it

I'm wondering if we thought the same thing JJ.

I haven't forgotten my 10 day old Allison's name but I'm not used to it yet! We've known since April she was a girl and yet it was on the way to the hospital and we were still deciding on a name. I keep trying out our other choices and none of them really seem to fit!!! I just call her Princess, that works best! :)

With my 2nd ds I remember it taking quite awhile before I was used to his name. I called him "the baby". Finally one of my friends asked me how old he would be before I wouldn't refer to him as "the baby". He was about 2 by then! :)
