New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

Because so far this has been released by only ONE blogger. Honestly I think the only reason people are giving him credibility is he has dates and a price. (and someone posted on another forum but their source was "heard at work."

The minute it was tweeted out DS texted his good friend [MK Fantasyland evening management] and she has heard nothing about it, no announcements, no change in their hours, no rumors, nothing. And she has an important job at the end of the night so I was surprised. She usually knows stuff a decent amount of time in advance.

The first date is is only three weeks away. I think that it would be difficult for them to advertise, sell, etc. something like this in three weeks.

We will be there for the first supposed date of April 14th. MK is open until 11 that night, so unless it was 11pm-2am.... I don't see myself paying $150 per person for this, but now if the ticket price included Trader Sam style drinks and some food, and I was transported from ride to ride on Aladdin's Flying Carpet, I might consider it.

I haven't looked and can't get into the Disney site; did any of those dates HAVE later hours or late EMHs and have they been switched? All of those are Thursdays save the 8th which is Mother's Day.

I'm not too proud to admit I would have done the soiree if we had been there at the right time. I might even consider Club Villain. But unless there's a lot more to this, I wouldn't even consider it. Those other events are unique and can't be accomplished by adding an extra day or two to our regular park tickets.

The hard core fans who would pay this kind of money are already staying onsite with EMH access.

Unless there's something really magical about this that hasn't been released yet, I'd say this might be their Waterloo. Sure a few people will do it, but not enough for Disney to staff the parks for those extra hours.

But $300 for 2 of us to spend 3 hours in the MK? Probably no parades or shows? Uh, not on your life.

How are they going to sell this? Unless it's looked at like, a normal ticket to MK is what $105+ now, and you will have to deal with crowds. But for $150 there will be less people, so you might be able to do more with less aggravation.

I'd take a busy full day in the MK over this 3 hours. Any day. Pick up a couple extra bands and you could have fastpasses all day to work your way around big crowds for a lot less money. Plus you get shows, parades and fireworks.

You have to scan your magic band to enter attractions during EMH.

For the first hour or so, at least that was my experience last year when I was there from late October to early November. The only exception for me was BTMRR. I rode that at around 11PM one evening during EMH and that CM was still asking every guest to scan their bands. At every other ride or attraction I don't think I was ever asked to scan my band much past 9PM, if at all.

Personally, we are APs and live 2 hours away. We go pretty often, usually every other month at least. There is no way, unless something else is offered, that I would pay this much to ride the same rides we have ridden hundreds of times. This is 2x's the price of the parties at MK. What is Disney smoking?

I just hope that this isn't going to skyrocket party prices. We have tickets for Club Villain this Saturday based on friends' experiences, and for an anniversary it'll be a treat. But if they can charge $159+ with tax per person for plussed out EMH, what will they try for the holiday parties?

I think the comparison to the VIP Tour is the right one though, targeting the people who don't want to spend more days at WDW, but just want to get it all done faster. Because Universal, the beach, shopping, etc.

That's a good point though about the shows/parades. I could see something where you can get in at whatever-time to see Celebrate the Magic, Wishes, Electrical Parade and then stay for a few hours and knock out the rides.

Maybe you even get to stand in those former-FP+ areas for Wishes ;)

I pay extra for the parties and we enjoy them, but to pay that for EMH just doesn't seem worth it. From what I've read they are marketing to those staying off property, so it would make me look at what a hotel is costing me off property vs. staying on property. If they are trying to drum up increased hotel capacity then this may be a good strategy. Think about how many EMH morning or nights you get on property vs. the roughly $600 for one night of paid for an average family of 4. Big difference!! I'm not sure what an average family pays to stay off property, but I bet the extra $600 could get them on property for all the EMH's. Of course that's if they keep it as a perk for on property guests!!

Is this going to be an emh for offsite guests?
Either way it seems excessive , unless it was a VERY small number of people in the park... Even then :sad2:
