New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I'm actually thinking this is a possibility and would go a long way to justify the cost. Since my May trip is only myself and my DS5 a late night is definitely out.

The first trip I ever took alone with my son he was four and we did an evening extra magic hour that had us leaving the Magic Kingdom at 2am. We stayed til the very end and he loved every minute of it. But....he's never been an early-to-bed kind of kid. :)

As I said, sign me up. We're going in May. If there's alcohol so much the better. Late at night it's cooler, too, so another bonus.

I sure don't see me ever paying $150 for 3 hours in the park.

But, in the discussions about FP+ there have been a lot of comments from people who have said how much they would be willing to pay for extra FPs or for the parks to be less crowded. So, this could test whether there is a market for something like this. This might appeal to some people who have a lot of money and whose main objective is to ride as many rides as possible without waiting. Like the people who paid a lot of money to hire someone with a phony disability card to allow their families to skip the lines.

I would 100% pay $300 for my husband and I to go to the MK for 3 hours in an uncrowded park, during late hours where there are unlikely to be small children and too many strollers. Would be worth every cent.
I've been at MK enough times late at night where the crowds are very light,I can't find any reason someone would spend $150 for 3 hours at MK unless something REALLY special is happening.

Carefully choosing my words but ...

It's true.

A lot more to the story.

Disney is >:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(

Head(s) will roll due to leak.

Oof. There are probably (hopefully?) some additional details here that weren't quite final that (might?) make the $150 price tag seem reasonable. After Dark ticket option? Two weeks until "on sale" though.

Edit: if some of the other rumored "reports" come true (that it's limited to 3000 people), they won't have any problems selling those tickets.

Interesting. Wonder how they can find the leak? Guess very few knew?

Very few knew. MK CMs did not.

First leak I saw was a post on WDWmagic last Saturday. Poster has few posts but all sounded like CM.
They may have left enough info to track them down. He said he heard at work.
Then today the blogger got way more info and put it out there. Did he PM the poster for more????
Be interesting if Disney puts the screws on him to give up the leak.

I guess someone is fixing to find out that leaking, at even 2 weeks out, is a big no-no...

Someone needs to start working on their resume.

I had immediate family working at Disney and have good friends. Front line know LOTS!
We don't share info that they tell us that we know is not to be public knowledge and we have been told LOTS.
I believe there is about to be extensive training on Social Media 101 and keeping your mouth shut.

.... so a complete unknown is super leaked, but nothing for ROL?

As I said there is a lot more to the story. I can not share.

personally i would never ever ever pay for FP+ or anything similar at any theme park/amusement park.
if its not free i'll wait in line just like i always did prior to those types of services becoming popular.

But if it is Disney "After Hours" and the special event is being offered at a time when the park would normally be closed, who cares if Disney offers people another experience for which they have the "pleasure" of paying $150.00 for 3 hours of normally closed park time? If that experience doesn't appeal to you, don't do it. There may well be a market for such an experience, if so, Disney should try to "sell" that experience. It's a win for Disney and a win for those folks willing to pay $150.00 for 3 hours in a less crowded, normally closed park. Just saying ...

I haven't replied on this thread yet because, frankly, the involuntary eye rolls caused by all of Disney's recent announcements (or rumors of coming changes) may be causing permanent damage.

But if this thing does happen, we're going to see shorter normal park hours so Disney can maximize profits from these after hour tickets. That's what would really tick me off. They will no longer extend park hours, as has always been the norm until now. Don't assume that these are only going to be during times when the park would have been otherwise closed. We may be seeing the last of MK hours that extend past 10:00

Same here. The fact that I used to get great ride access with legacy FP for free makes me far less likely to pay for something like this. I would just feel played.

It took them long enough to extend hours for Easter week. I wonder now if they were toying with rolling this out then.

The cynic in me is wondering whether the DVC Member events in February and early March were test balloons for this exact event. They certainly sent out enough surveys after the fact, and the events sound almost identical.

Plus, doesn't the description for this after hours event say "select attractions"? So people wouldn't even have access to the whole park?

I wonder if there was a question on the survey about whether the guest would be willing to pay $150 for an identical event in the future.
