New Military Discounts update

Tried to apply the military discount to my reservation of 3 rooms at Poly for Oct 14th-20th. All they had available was lagoon view, club level whcih raised my existing price $300.00. So now I hope for an AP discount. :rolleyes1

That's not unusual. The military rates vary, and aren't available for all rooms/all resorts. 40% off is a great deal. You can always keep checking for your preferred room.:cool1:

Wow!!! Glad I was able to book a GV CL room! Seems like the amount of rooms per resort is really limited!!! :headache:

The only way to find out what is available and when is to call? I don't see where you can constantly check online like for AP holders.

We're booked for FD in mid-Oct, and figured I'd might as well run the numbers to see if the extended military discount is a better deal for us (although I'm not optimistic). We are a family of 4 (one is an infant, so he's 'free'), plus FIL & MIL...FIL is retired USMC. We're booked for 7 nights at POR, again with free dining. The way I read the discount tickets, they're only good for 4 days, right? So while the military discount is a great deal for 4 days, we'd have to get 3 day tickets if we'd still like to stay an entire week, right (there is 5 of us in the party of ticketing age)?

You don't have to use the 4-day tickets in order to get the resort discount. You can purchase your tickets through disney, or through someplace like undercover tourist or at SOG (tax free!).

You could add the Water Parks option to military tix to extend your visit, but you'd still only get 4 days in in MK/AK/HS/EP.

Discount doesn't apply to the Little Mermaid rooms we already have booked. Oh well. Not giving those up and disappointing dear princess. princess:

Got 2 rooms at POR for $3012 (10 nights)!! Great customer service as always. Now need to call SoG and cancel that rez.

Thanks! Just running some prelim #'s, between the resort discount & ticket discount, unless we only went to the parks 4 days, I don't think we'd save much $$$. I already have ADRs, and have our days plotted out....so it would also cause some rework to our schedule. The other kicker is that a small part of me is wondering if the grandparents are going to end up backing out, and we'd be depending on them for the military discount. Thanks for the help!

I called back and changed our resort from Poly to BWI. Booked 3 rooms, standard view club level and saved over $1500.00!!! :dance3:

I called about 4pm to modify my ressie. I had booked FD for Oct 19-23 at POR. I asked what they had available in a mod for Oct 18-24 and the only thing available was CBR-pirate rooms (which we didn't want). So, we just kept our FD ressie. I was able to add a room only on Oct 18 at POR. I tried to add one night on the end (Oct 24) but there was no availablity at POR for that day. They also said no availability those date at AoA LM. I may check back later to see if anything else opens up.

Friends had AKL 2 bedroom villa @ Kidani w/savanna view & free dining. REALLY didn't want to give up that view, but w/military discount and buying dining, then buying 6 adult 4 day PH through base (max number you can buy) and adding 1 adult + 2 kids through WDW they saved over $1300. Considering it was basically 1 reservation with 6 adults & 3 kids - that is a chunk. But they will miss the view :rotfl:

It's not that the discount doesn't apply to those rooms, it's that there were a limited number of those rooms that had the discount. Apparently they went very quickly because there are none left during the time I'm going to be there either. There are still family suites left, but that's not an option for me since there are only going to be two adults this trip.

We booked our LM rooms as soon as I knew they would be available for our Dec visit. Every time I've checked since booking those rooms, the LM rooms are sold out for our dates. So I wasn't surprised I couldn't get military disc applied to the room, but I was hoping anyway. With a military discount we would have added dining -- likely deluxe. But since Niece has been anticipating sleeping in Ariel's room, we are keeping it. She's thisclose to being out of princess phase (starting 2nd grade), so this will probably be our last trip where it's important to her.

We are a party of 7, so the discount on a suite wouldn't work for us no matter what.

Does anyone know if the free dining is still available with the military hotel discount if you buys tickets as part of the package?

No, you can not take advantage of free dining with the military discount

Unfortunately you can only take one discount so you might want to sit down and figure out which one is better for you and go with that. :)

Was free dining EVER available with a military room/ticket package?

You are able to add a dining plan on at full price to your military room only discounted room.
