Please forgive me if I'm not doing this correctly...This is my first time posting!

I called WDW yesterday (10-3) and today and was given this info (from two different CMs) regarding a new military discount effective from 10-3-10 until 10-1-11:

Military members may buy tickets (1 for themselves and up to five more for family/friends) for a 4 day pass for $138. This pass includes EITHER the park hopper option OR the water parks, fun, and more option. Tickets with BOTH of these options are also available for $165. There are blackout dates (near Christmas, Easter, and 4th of July) and the tickets must be purchased at an ITT office on base or from one of the theme parks. Also, discounts on rooms are available from 30-35%, depending on the category.

I can't find this info on the web anywhere. It's not even on the website that the CM referred me to (disneymilitarysales.com). Has anyone else heard about this? Please tell me it's true!

As of right now there is nothing on The Hub ticketing section about new military discounted tickets. I have looked in two different areas. And there would be information as that is usually how we in ticketing get our information.

Last time we were in Disney (last year), my brother was able to take advantage of this. At the time it was his 5 day hopper was free and up to five family members were $99 each for a 5day hopper. His commanding officer told him about it, and he was able to purchase his tickets right at the ticket window outside MK. He just had to show his active military ID.

We also took advantage of the military discount from last year. It was awesome. :thumbsup2

I'll have to keep my eye out to see if there is a new discount. That would be great!

:welcome: to the DIS!

Another military ticket and room-only discount has not yet been released. You did the right thing by posting to this forum as this is currently a "rumor" and not fact. Hopefully, your rumor will be fact soon and this post can be moved to the "Disney Discount Codes and Rates" forum;).

www.mousesavers.com and http://disneymilitarysales.com/ and http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-military.htm will definitely post all the details when/if this offer becomes available for booking.

I am so mad! When I called WDW tonight apparently there's been a "computer glitch" and the proposed military discount has been delayed. Why would two separate CMs even mention it to me if it wasn't finalized and ready to go????

All I can hope for is that they get the issues worked out before we fly from Australia at the end of this month.

Thank you for the update. The "glitch" the CM mentioned may be related to the closure for updating of the WDW booking site and of the CRO/WDTC.

Please be advised that we will be updating our systems to serve you better. During this enhancement, beginning on October 12 at 4 p.m. ET, online bookings and bookings through the Disney Reservation Center will be unavailable. We expect to return to full functionality by the morning of October 14. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. Please note that these dates and times are subject to change.

I know this is not the cruise board but I wanted to share my frustrations with the military discount as well and getting bad information- Just so you don't think it was only you.

I talked to 3 different people at DCL about the military discount as well I inquired if they do anything for DoD civilians (since they can purchase tickets and stuff at the MWR etc) they told me no just Defense Agencies like FBI, CIA, and NSA are entitled to a discount. The only stipulation was the card had to say DoD.

The first person told me this was for uniformed guys on detail- makes sense

The second person and thier supervisor told me no DoD civilians just emplyoees of agencies such as FBI, CIA and NSA. Again thier card had to say DoD on it. They made a point to say no DHS people, I tried to understand and asked why FBI was considered DoD and not DHS since they are DHS. They told me I didn't know what I was talking about--- maybe the year I spent in Iraq things changed.

Second I asked why if you give emplyoees (which could only be civilians as uniformed guys would have CAC cards) from these Agencies discounts but not ones that work for big DoD. She mumbled a lot said something about asking at the offices at those Agencies but couldn't tell me who or who in my own division I could ask about it.

Finally, she said you booked on board another cruise I don't know why you are so concerned you can't get another discount anyways. But that wasn't the question... oh well guess my friends will have to call in themselves.

Best of luck with getting your tickets hopefully they have thier new discounts worked out throughout Disney.

I don't want to come across as whining or anything because I'm an active duty E-7 and my wife is a math teacher so, essentially, we are recession proof and can afford Disney vacations when a lot of our countrymen have been unemployed for a long time. It still angers me when Disney can offer all kinds of discounts for every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there but doesn't throw the military a bone at all. Again, I'm not thinking about myself so much as I am the young Enlisted family that may want to go take their little girl to meet Cinderella or boy to meet a real Pirate but are unable to afford rack rate even with free dining.

In case my link was missed above, the WDW room-only military discount was released last week and is applicable now through October 2011. This is unprecedented for WDW to offer such a discount for this length of time.

All the details of the offer are in my thread here and the WDW military ticket offer should be announced soon. When it is, I'll post the details.

It will be nice if they release this b4 Jan 2 if its true. I will hold off booking a room on free dining for a couple weeks to see if they come out w/ it.

Disney Military Sales sent me a press release last night (10/23/2010) with the following information:

Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets with Water Parks Fun and More Option for $138 each, plus tax AND
Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets with Park Hopper and Water Parks Fun and More Options for $165 each, plus tax”
The release continues with this scope and eligibility info:

“Disney Military Promotional Tickets can be purchased by active and retired U.S. military personnel for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends.
No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer.
All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by Oct. 1, 2011 (certain block out dates apply).”
And it contains this how-to and contact advice:

“For information regarding Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Walt Disney World Resort, or to make room reservations at the Walt Disney World Resort, military personnel may call 407/939-7830 or participating U.S. military base ticket offices.

Information is also available at www.disneyworld.com/military.”

Note that as I write this the hotel deal is up on the link, but the ticket deal still refers to the past one. No doubt this will be updated shortly.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Disney has offered special discounting for the military for the past couple of years and has announced special ticket and room discounts for 2011, so the "doesn't throw the military a bone at all" comment really doesn't apply.

Frankly, the last couple of summer and fall period at turnstiles, we saw a surge in military people getting the special 5 day tickets, staying 2 or 3 days and then selling off their tickets with remaining days to the resellers in violation of the ticketing agreement. For awhile we were catching more of the military resells than the 192 and IDrive resells.

Just my $.02
