I don’t think I’ve seen this posted, but significant changes to The Plaza menu at MK. This is a place I’ve always enjoyed for convenience and ambiance though the food is sometimes problematic. Have to say, I find the new menu items a significant improvement, especially with the new salads… never enough of those on offer! The Reuben is sadly no more.

I have a ressie next month so let’s see how it fares!

I believe this is the smallest FS restaurant in the MK. Wouldn't it be good if they could find a way to expand it as well. Perhaps into the current back stage area?

I agree. We haven't been in years because the old menu just wasn't appealing. This looks fantastic. Now if they'd only bring back the steak fries instead of the standard fast food fries! @Debbie Jean, please come back and tell us about your meal next month. Hopefully the podcast team gives this a try as well.

WDWNT said they would be posting a review… will be interested to see what they think! I generally find Tom and his team to be pretty fair.

I’m glad I saw this thread. I usually eat The Plaza when I visit WDW, but for my 2023 trip next month, I deliberately skipped it, due to the old menu. My first time there was to get the Hot Brown, and around the 50th to get the Monte Cristo, and after that settled for the meatloaf. Well, I wasn’t going to go back again this year just to get meatloaf. With the new items, I’m willing to give them a try. I always like the coziness and small size of the restaurant, and of course the view of the castle. It’s a nice respite. I’ve booked a lunch now for my MK day.

Traveling around Disney (couple on YouTube) have a new video featuring the new menu. To be honest, when I first saw the menu I didn’t think much of it but after watching the video I might try it next trip. The food looks pretty good. The new desserts aren’t something I’m interested in since I’m more of a classic hot fudge sundae person.

Glad they have the Waldorf salad as an option. I miss the old strawberry salad they had before covid.

I had eaten at The Plaza every trip since 2002. Sadly I did not go last December during my trip due to the awful menu. I was really looking forward to the Monte Cristo that they had for the 50th but they removed it from the menu nine months into the celebration. This menu is much improved.

If your expectation of the Plaza Monte Cristo was something resembling the Disneyland Blue Bayou Monte Cristo, you can rest easy that you missed it. The Plaza version was very underwhelming.

Yeah, that's because the sandwiches were assembled off site and sent to the restaurant frozen. Then at the restaurant, they were thawed, dipped in the batter and fried. At least that's what my server told me when I asked if I could have an ingredient left off. She explained the process to me when she said they couldn't be customized.

We were so excited to try the Plaza Monte Cristo after enjoying the one at DL. Boy were we disappointed. It was awful. The primary flavor was grease. Then, without going into graphic details, let's just say that later that evening both my son and I were regretting our life choices :crazy2: . We haven't been back to the Plaza since. This new menu does look good, but now I'm gun shy :goodvibes.

We will miss the Reuben. The menu looks almost identical to our local gas station restaurant.

Guess I'll cross The Plaza off our list. Seems like Disney is taking all imagination out of its room design in the hotels and food offerings in its restaurants.

Disney is rapidly falling from being the industry leader, to being the same as everywhere else.

So I stumbled upon this thread because I was trying to lookup the club sandwich from the Plaza to see what all was used. Yeah, a club sandwich is a pretty easy thing to make usually has the same basic ingredients but I wanted to see if it listed the bread types used. And that's when I noticed that just about every picture of the sandwich that showed up in Google didn't look anything like I remembered. It seems that its gone through many revisions over time. Looking at what it has become make me long for the old days when it was (In my opinion) a pretty good sandwich and sure had more to it than what they give you now.

Hopefully this image will show up of what it looked like up until the late 90s.

With respect , that sandwich looks pretty gross. What is that dark layer? Plain bread not toasted?

No no worries. Everyone has their own likes. :)

The first time I got it I thought the same thing when they brought it out but it was pretty good. In fact that’s the parts I was searching for was the two types of bread used. Not sure if the brown was a rye or pumpernickel? Pretty sure it is just white bread but it was just, good.

It could have also been that we were on our honeymoon and at the Magic Kingdom so everything was just good at the time.
