New Menu at 1900 Park Fare?

I was looking at menus on All Ears and it shows new menus for several places. I also read a review that was just posted about dinner at 1900 and from the pics of the food, there is nothing there that I would want to eat!!

Did they really change the menu to exotic sounding foods? I try so hard to plan my reservations around the variety of buffets so the kids will have a good selection but when there is nothing that sounds good to me, I know there will be nothing for them to eat. This is also a place we haven't been before and I really wanted to try it.

I can't speak for their adult menu because I haven't eaten there. But at all the character buffets we have been to, the kids buffet always includes the standard chicken nuggets, pizza, mac-n-cheese, etc... I am sure the 1900 buffet would still include those for the kids.

Yes I would agree there should still be the standard kids food but as far as adults food. I would say if its to "exotic" for you eat some chicken fingers and mac-n-cheese, 1900 Park is not a place most go for the food, you go to have dinner w/ Cinderella. If Cinderella is not a priority to your kids do Chef Mickeys, Liberty Tree Tavern or Crystal Palace.

Wow.....I just read the menu and I cant believe I made a reservation here because we do have some picky eaters in our group!! They MUST have changed the choices.......

Really wanted this dinner and it was to be my twin daughers birthday dinner but now I'm no so sure any more.....

I understand that you go for the characters but if 3 out of 7 people are going to leave hungry its ridiculous........

I guess I have some thinking to do.

wow that doesn't sound very exotic to me - plenty of "normal" choices on there besides the kids menu
Mixed greens and caesar salad sound pretty standard
Can't tell if is mashed sweet potatos and red bliss are one item or not (if one item then maybe a little outside the comfort zone)
Broccoli and carrots or corn as a veggie
Prime rib (carved will be similar to roast beef only better), turkey, cheese lasagna and italian sausage are all also pretty tame

With the exception of regular mashed or some other plain potato product, maybe chicken breast/fried chicken instead of turkey, and maybe some rice as a side, I'm not sure how much more regular food would be at a buffet.

I didn't think the menu sounded exotic either. I'm thinking the sweet potatoes and red bliss are separate. I assume the red bliss mashed potatoes are probably just a red skinned mashed potatoes with the skin on, which is just a more rustic way to prepare mashed potatoes. As for the meats, it just sounds like they're seasoning the turkey, chicken, and pork with some "exotic" spices. I wouldn't worry about that too much - it will just add to the flavor. It's not like they're serving, I don't know, kangaroo filets with squid sauce or something. I bet they're just trying to appeal to the foodies who go there for their kids and then complain that the food isn't exciting.

And, I especially wouldn't worry about the kids - I guarantee they won't have a character meal with no "kid food" available. The menu says they have all the regular favorites.

The menu on allears is not updated since the menu change almost a year ago now. The only thing they updated was the price. When they did the rehab they switched to a more international theme with French, Asian, and Italian foods. They also changed the kdis foods to healthier options. There are not nuggets or hot dogs. They have plain baked chicken, steamed broccoli, plain corn, whole wheat pasta with sauce on the side, mac and cheese,and whole wheat cheese pizza for kids. There were lots of japanese noodle dishes, a few French things like Coq au vin, salmon with a dill cream sauce, and a few Italian dishes (premade not like before when you could customize). They also had a carving station with prime rib but not the turkey anymore. I have allergies so tend to avoid sauces and I ate the kids baked chicken which was actually really good and lots of the broccoli since it was the end of our trip and I was veggie deprived. A picky eater adult should be able to make do with fruit, salad, and kids entrees if they like nothing else. I love fish but the salmon was very overcooked to the point where I couldn't eat it at all. My kids mostly ate pasta, chicken, and tons of fruit. We used to LOVE the food at 1900 pre-rehab and post rehab we found it to be fine but nothing special anymore. The characters and Grand Floridian are GREAT though.

While it sounds okay I'm concerned about DCDisney's commments. I thought PF had the best buffet food at WDW but now I'm not so sure. And the changes mention to the kid's food doesn't sound good to me. DD8 loved the kid's food when we've eaten there before. But if the pizza is now whole wheat, and the pasta too, she'll be unhappy. And she's a pretty good eater, slender, and loves veggies. But she is a kid too! We currently have an early 4:30 dinner here and I've been trying to change it to later. Maybe I'll just skip it and try a different buffet. We've always wanted to try Cape May.

We ate there last October and thankfully it was during free dining.

It was the worst food selection we have ever had at Disney.

The interaction with Cinderella and her stepmother and stepsisters was great but we ate almost nothing, it seemed everything we tried we did not like.

If you have picky eaters I would not recommend this buffet.

Well now I am worried about this one. My family is picky and usually will eat off the kids buffet, however, if there are no hotdogs or nuggets that is not going to go over well. We are down to a few weeks until we go and I think maybe I should change this one. Any suggestions????

Thanks for the link-looks like I'll be changing our ADR. It's too bad since I always thought PF had some of the best buffet food. And I agree about that location where people stand and watch what's going on inside. I would hate that too! We've always had late ADRs there when the room is emptying out. This would be our first time eating so early-I wil be looking for another venue. Too bad that both menus seem to be out of date.

I'm really not seeing what's so "exotic" about the menu, pre-refurb or after? Isn't the point of a buffet to offer a variety of foods, some of which you wouldn't normally order on their own but would try if you could take a small bit? In any case, if that's exotic, I wouldn't want to know what you think of most of the restaurants I chose to eat at.

this was the menu 2 yrs ago when we went...not so new. the food was GREAT! the kids loved it also....the best part is the chicken with the spicy couscous and the mushroom pasta YUMMY!

What is so bad about chicken nuggets? I just don't understand it. Healthy food is great and it's great to have the choice but most kids love chicken nuggets and regular pizza. My daughter is a very picky eater and loves chicken and it is very tough to find them offered anymore. We ate there last year and we had thought it wasn't as good as the prior year as well. My DD loves Cinderella and the characters are GREAT there but we will not be returning this year because we just didn't think it was up to par from past experiences there.

You know, there are lots of kids who enjoy dishes other than hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and peperoni pizza. I think it's great that Disney is giving some more variety.

It's funny because people complain when Disney streamline's it's menus to offer similar or the same foods at every establishment (and I understand why they complain) and then other people complain that you can't get the exact same items at every restaurant. So, I think they are trying to balance the two views and they do a relatively good job.

I can tell you I am about the pickiest eater in the world, and we ate there twice in the past year and loved it!

There's prime rib, turkey, corn, pasta that you can put sauce on or not, salad, fruit, pizza, etc. My girls really liked the mac and cheese. The desserts were pretty good, too.

Truly - it was a lot easier for me to eat there than Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace for dinner.

I just ate there at the end of June. It was not crazy exotic as I'm not one to eat anything weird. I ate baked chicken, carved turkey breast, prime rib (the best thing I ate that night), mac n cheese (from the kids section), salad bar, fresh fruit, and caesar salad. They had steamed green beans (on the kids bar) which were excellent, steamed broccoli (on the adult bar). The night I was there the potato selection was roasted potatoes and they also had regular (not sweet) mashed potatos. They also had the coq au vin (chicken in a wine sauce) which was good and 2 pasta dishes that I forget. They had a salmon dish which I did not try. Dessert was outstanding and many of the kids loved the make your own sundaes. The pizza on the kids menu was not wheat as I had to try some! They had the nuggets there too for the kids. I did not care for the famous strawberry soup though!

I agree with the above poster - I thought some of the crystal palace food was more exotic and weirder then 1900 Pare Fare on this trip.

I think 1900 is a lil more of an upscale buffet which to me was a very nice change from the rest of my trip.
