I just closed on a resales contract the end of November. Today we receive the new DVC membership cards for all of our home resorts. We have three different member ID's and received three sets of cards.

The thing that seems odd is all of our different Member ID cards have the same join date. The date is the one from our very first contract from 2007. I don't know if this is even important just something I noticed.

I think that's how it works, after all, you became DVC member in 2007, so even when you buy an additional contract, you were already a member

It's just something you noticed. Like Brandis said your card should read "Member Since" then the date you first became a member.

I have 3 different membership cards. (Each one has a different member number.) Each one has a different "Member since" number. They are 12/94, 11/96, and 08/09.
When you make a purchase and they give you a different contract number (one with a higher number than xxxxxxx.0 like xxxxxx.2) you should have a different "Member since" date for that card.

Our first contract was a resale that we bought in 2009. Our cards read member since 1993 . I guess when the original contract was bought? Who knows. My wife just recieved a new card to replace the one she lost which reads members since 12/09.

We've also bought 2 contracts since same UY and have never gotten another card ,which doesn't seem to matter since the first one still works. All they want to know is your membership number.:yay:

That really is the only thing that counts

That's the funny thing. All of my cards BEFORE the new ones did have different "member since" dates which co-incided with our purchase dates. Now ALL of the different Membership ID's have the same member since date....which is the date of our first purchase.

Are they all the same UY, or different ? That's the only thing i could think of that would make it different.:confused3

Three different UY with three different Menbership ID's. Two contracts are resales ( one grandfathered in) and one direct purchase. Just seems odd to me.

Me too. Three different use years, one resale grandfathered. No explaining it.

Sounds like they changed the programming on how they handle resales. Something in there changed the "Member since" date to your purchase date.

Like you, I have two sets of cards with different "Member Since" dates. My resale date pre-dates my purchase so I assume it was the original purchase date.

My guess is that they had to update the programming to be able to differentiate the new resale purchases (to enable restrictions). Otherwise they wouldn't be able to easily track who purchased after the grandfather protection daet.

I agree. However, my latest resales contract purchased AFTER March 20, 2011 also has the same 2007 Member Since date. How does that tell them this contract is NOT grandfathered? You would think this particular contract would have this year's Member Since date?:confused3

I have 3 contracts ,,,2 resales bought 12/08, 2/11 and a direct contract bought 12/09,and only 1 membership card:confused3,,, But i'm not complaining ,,again they're all the same UY as well.
