New Members kit

Could someone tell me whats in the new members kit and if they still send them out. I have recieved (all seperately) a web id, and just got my dvc card in the mail. However is there some kind of new members handbook and planner or something. I closed on Nov 28 and have called but keep getting the same old it was mailed on Dec 6 and takes 4 weeks, well ive hit 8 weeks and nothing in the way of planner or members kit. They just keep telling me that thay will make a note of it, but i dont want to keep calling and all of a sudden im on some black list as a pest. lol

Did you buy resale? We didn't get a members kit with our resale, but we did with our direct buy.

I did buy resale, however Disney said that made no difference and that I would get the new members kit. I was just wondering what was in it. When I do get it(hopefully).

i got my new member kit three days after becoming a member. and to be honest it just a whole bunch of papers to read. and a DVC member bag.

Did you buy direct from DVC or resale? I don't believe they send out a bag on resales.

OP should still receive the member handbook and planning guide regardless of how their membership was purchased. The handbook goes over rules for banking, housekeeping, 7/11 month windows, etc. It also describes the different resorts. The planner will give you the point charts for 08 and 09.

I would call and ask them to please send another one since you haven't yet received them and would like to begin planning your DVC stays.

Ours was Fed Ex'd to us within 3 days. BUT, if I remember correctly, it had our contract in there to sign (along with LOTS of legal paperwork) so they needed to get it to us in a timely manner to complete the sale.

I would definitely ask them for it. The vacation planning guide was really helpful to read through and it has all the points for all the resorts, plus rules on when it's too late to book, cancel, bank, etc.

Then again, I knew all the answers already from reading great sites like the DISboards, so it wasn't as helpful to me as someone who has never heard of the internet.

We only received the full kit with our Disney direct purchases. We did not receive the same from Disney when we purchased our resales.

You should receive the member cards, pin and ID info for the website and the DVC planner.

We also bought resale (closed Oct 07) and have not receive a New Member Kit.
We did recieve the cards and the Vacation Planner (January 08).

I only found out about the New Member Handbook when I saw one for sale on ebay! I have emailed Disney to ask for one .......but they are ignoring me!

Agreed that you do find out SO much from reading these boards (thank you everyone ) but I would still like the handbook and a DVC tote bag all the same!

As I posted b4, resales do not get the "Members Kit". It is Disney's position that you should have received the information from the previous owner.

That never happens.

I guess I can't blame them though. We did bypass them and buy elsewhere.

Okay, Finally a CM that could explain it. Resales do get the new members kit and I am on the list with a lot of people, she actually could see a list that no other CM told me about. They are having some difficulties with shortages and some planners and books being printed up wrong. The new mailing day is around March 1st for all the people that havent gotten the planners and kits yet and she says this goes back to some people buying DVC in November. As long as I know its coming im happy.
