i JUST RECENTLY BEACAME A MEMBER OF THE DVC. I PURCHASED 200 POINTS FOR 80/PP WITH THE MAJICAL BEGININGS INCENTIVE OF 15 OFF PP. TOTAL AMOUNT FOR A POINT CAME TO 65PP FOR THE VERO BEACH RESORT.
I JUST BECAME A MEMBER THIS WEEKEND WHILE ON THE 7 DAY CRUISE. DOING SOME RESEARCH WHEN I CAME BACK I FOUND THAT YOU COULD ALSO BUY MEMBERSHIP ON THE RESELL MARKET. I WOULD LIKE TO GET YOUR INPUT ON VERO BEACH RESORT AS MY HOME RESORT AND ALSO IF YOU THINK I CAN DO BETTER ON THE RESALE MARKET, SINCE I HAVE 15 DAYS TO CANCEL.

THANKS....

I would post this on the DVC board.

Maybe one of the moderators can move it for you or you could just post this there yourself.

Best of luck to you.

If you plan on staying at Vero more often than WDW then you will be happy with your points at Vero. If you plan on staying at WDW more often, especially during DVC busy seasons, you might not be as happy with Vero. The 11 month booking window is extremely important for certain times of the year or for certain types of accomodations. The busiest times for DVC are around any holiday, the first two weeks of December, and during the Food and Wine Festival (all of October and November to Thanksgiving). You can probably find a resell at a WDW resort for about the same price as the Vero contract that you bought.

If you bought VB to stay there, great, it's a wonderful resort. If you bought VB simply because of the price and to get into the system to stay at WDW, I think you made a poor choice. The yearly dues are the highest at VB of any. If you just want into the system, I'd rescind your purchase and look for a resale. You should be able to get a resale as cheap or cheaper in the long run and the fees will be less yearly, almost a $1 per point less at OKW.

The MB program, $15, at VB is the highest because they can't sell those points. They have to use lies, maybe you recognize a few, these are some common lies told by DVC sales staff when trying to push VB on peopele who don't know that much about DVC.

1. Home resort doesn't matter, most reservations are made less than six months out, home resort in meaningless.

2. VB may have the highest dues now, but dues change, VB was lowest at one time...this leaves the impression that they might be lowest again.

VB was lowest because of a developer subsidy for the first bunch of years. When poor sales forced them to slash the original size of the resort, they had to cut out the subsidy, VB will always be highesst.

Its pretty sad that DVC sales staff uses fraudulaunt claims and lies to push there poorly selling VB resort.

VB sales have been so bad that Disney was forced to sell properties announced as DVC resorts. Disney got burned so badly with VB that there will never be another DVC built off Disney property again.

If you bought VB to stay mostly at VB, its a good deal, if you bought VB to mainly stay at WDW, you fell for their lies and should get out of the contract.

I'd further add that if you want a specific resort most of the time, you should buy at that resort. The price differences isn't enough to complicate your life in this way. Good luck.
