Hello, We just returned a week ago today from an awesome trip to Disney World. We are a family of 6 so we really need two rooms so people can get some sleep! Which gets expensive. I looked into the DVC, I did the open house tour at SSR. I was reading a post about another person who just returned and bought, they mentioned the "incentives to buy now" what are the exact incentives right now? Also SSR or AKV??? Also how difficult is it to get a reservation at NOT your home resort for a medium time of the year to be traveling? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When I was there in May, we took the tour and purchased SSR. The incentives are -ending June 4th or 6th I think - 160 minimum points through Disney at SSR or AKL, $10 off per point SSR and $8 off per AKL, 06 points for SSR and another set then comes available Dec. 07, 07 points available for AKL but not an extra set from 06. You have to call within three days of your return date home and let your guide know if you want to purchase to get the incentives. If you did not have a guide that told you that, ask for Patti Douglas or Kelli Jo Williamson (I recommend both) and inquire more about the incentives available to you.

As for booking other than at home, many people here say it's impossible, I don't know though because I've only booked one trip as a member and it was quite simple to do. I picked SSR because I like the resort, I loved the rooms and I liked the incentive better. I love AKL rooms too, but I thought that maybe after a week, I would tire of the African theme - but wow that one shower is nice! I will eventually book there though because I want to try them all. I tend to be flexible so I think that makes it easier to do.

Don't worry. there is always some kind of "incentive" going on, but disney's rack rates do seem to increase a little each year. Remember that an annual increase of two or three dollars per point is only around $300 to $330 dollars added to the total price of a 160 pt. contract. Not exactly a compelling reason to rush a desicion. There is also the resale market which might save you a few dollars per point, depending on the situation and closing costs. :thumbsup2

That is a perfect point!
