Recently the cover of my 2001-2002 Member Guidebook has come un-glued from the spine. Has anyone else had this problem? Guess I'm looking through it too much ;)

Anyway, I was curious to know which guidebook members prefer...the "old" 3-ring binder guidebook, or the "new" soft-covered version?

Here are my pros and cons:

New Guidebook
Pros:
- Lighter
- Loose paper pouch on back cover

Cons:
- Cover came un-glued

Old Guidebook
Pros:
- Enjoyed flexibility of 3-ring binder...able to add and remove pages

Cons:
- Heavy and bulky

I like the information provided in the "new" book; I think it addresses questions on banking / borrowing, cancellation policies, etc. better than the old book, but I liked the 3 ring binder, so that's my vote.

After many calls and e-mails to MS I still don't have my new one, so I can't answer. Am I the only one or are there others out there who are still waiting?

I agree exactly with what CRobin said. I think that the new book has more complete information and is set up really well. But I liked the 3-ring format better. I liked to pull out only those pages that I wanted to work with for a while (i.e. - point charts from a couple resorts to compare), and sometimes put them side by side. Plus, the cover on my book also came unglued just about a week ago.

I did not like the old one. I had things everywhere after a while. However, you could always hole punch your new one and put it in the binder.

After NUMEROUS calls, I finally got my book in early January.

Keep calling - be persistent.

Good Luck!

I can't vote on if I liked the old member book because I'm a new member but the day after our member book arrived, I had it three hole punched and put in a three ring binder. I think I got the idea from someone on this board because I know I would never had thought of it myself. I have some Disney stickers that I'm gonna put all over my black binder. I love it!

We joined in September, just when they were in the process of changing books........ but got the old one.

After many e-mails to ms, we managed to get one when we took our first visit home in Jan and meet our guide. Jim came up with the goods and after speaking to him, we had a call from front desk telling us there was a parcel for us. 1st class service from him as usual.

I agree with those who like the new info, but prefer the old binder. I was also thinking that I am looking through it way too much since my pages are falling out!

We are on the list who like info from new and the format of the old. Our cover was coming uglued when we got it

I would prefer the new format with the 3 ring binder. The spine came unglued almost immediately and really needs to be replaced since it DH looks at it at least once a day, if not more!

hi to all: count me in with those who like the new book but prefer the binder. i can't tell you how many times we've misplaced the new one. that big old clunky binder was easier to lay my hands on. i guess i'll have to break down and punch holes in the new one and insert in the old binder.

I totally agree with the majority of posters!! The new format is very nice but I far prefer the durability and flexibility of my three ring binder!! I, too, liked to take the pages out of the binder and lay them side by side for some comparisons. And the binder is definitely easier to find on our bookshelves. I hope the "powers that be" at DVC, bring back those three ring binders!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Well, I'm glad to know it isn't just me;) . My cover is coming off, too. And this has to last me through 2003?! It'll never make it!

I wonder which book cost us more $$? I would think the old solution would be more cost effective. You only send pages that have chaged. Now we will get a whole new book every year.

Maybe if they enhanced their web site(a lot) they wouldn't even have to send books.

Wouldn't it be nice to login to the web site and see how many points you have left!!!! Review all your old trips..... Bank points online!!!!!

Liked the ability to punch your reservation confirmations and keep them in the three ring binder. We have well worn the new one already and it is comming unglued. Hope it makes it to the fall. Otherwise, a big roll of scotch tape will be in order.

I voted for the new one although I keep the binder right next to it... New is well organized, full point totals, nice size... We keep our reservation sheets and point balance sheets in the 3-ring, as well as the seasonal news"letter" thingy...

I guess I also like the new style because all the point charts I've needed for '02 and '03 are in there, no more waiting for the mail or individual sheets getting lost in the mail...

To paraphrase a favorite attraction... "That's Progress!"

The info in the new version is better, but the spine on mine broke the day it came in the mail. I've got pages falling out of the new one.

I think the member website should be just as detailed as the book in case it is misplaced. The website is good, but doesn't have the level of detail the guidebook has.

The problem with all guidebooks are they don't include BCV.
