New member buying sold out resort from Disney

(Really) long time lurker, first (hmm.. I suppose it's second) time poster.

So DH and I have finally gotten the funds needed to buy in, and we've decided to go through Disney to buy a sold out resort. The prices are getting so close now, that I'd rather buy through Disney, and we'll need to finance for a short while - the fact that Disney financing doesn't show up on our credit reports is also a plus.

Anyway, what I really came to ask was that I know that there are some guides who will refuse to sell sold-out resorts to new members (or it'd take lots and lots of shoving), and we *really* don't want SSR (we're planning for Decembers in VWL). I figured it'd just be easier to come here and ask for names of guides who won't make us spend forever and a day trying to convine them (or at least the names of the guides to avoid!).

I felt the same way....wanted to buy in but did not want SSR. I looked at resale and after closing costs the points cost roughly the same. My guide, Judy Kaufman, was fantastic. As soon as I said I don't want SSR she offered me BWV,which is sold out but Disney has points available. VWL, OKW, and BCV are also sold out and I think you can only gain contracts through resale. Keep in mind though that SSR with F&F is a great deal and you can stay anywhere you want.....just have to use the 7 month window at your non home resort. Good Luck....

I bet my guide Lisa DeRosa would sell you what you wanted to buy if she had it.... she is a real go getter from the begining thru the middle and way after the end. Sweet as can be too! LOL

My guide's name is Michelle and she is sweet too. She may encourage you to buy SSR because it is cheaper and has more years but if you ask her to put you on the waiting list for the resort that you want, she will.

Just be firm about not wanting SSR. I have added on a couple of times and they never seem to have a shortage of VWL points in their hip pocket.

If they don't have one big contract, tell them that combining smaller contracts would be fine (which may work to your advantage in the future, should you ever want to sell of a chunk)

I have kind of an off this topic but along the same lines question please. If you bought resale, we have done 2 contracts this way at OKW & VWL, do we have a guide? I always wanted to ask that and didn't want to look stupid.

I wasn't permitted to pick my guide. I was assigned one because of the state I live in (I called on the phone to purchase). I bought SSR this month and then did an add on at VWL a week later. My guide told me that I could get as many points as I wanted at any of the resorts except BCV for my use year, which is Aug.
