So we purchased a resale and have closed as of 11/29. We are looking to book something ASAP. So following what people on here said, we called MS. However, the person required a member ID for confirmation. They looked it up by name but would not confirm they found me without a member ID. Should I just try again and hope to get someone else or wait for some paperwork?

When I first became a member via resell I remember calling MS and explaining that I had recently closed on a resell contract and they were able to look up my member number. My guess is you probably aren't in the system yet. It's been a while, but doesnt it usually take 10 - 14 days at least.

I could tell that the person found me because they looked up my name with two spellings (with and without a space in the last name). When she looked up with a space, she said "oh I see what happened". So I am certain we are there...

Call back and try again, use your SSN as a password. If you are still having trouble, ask for a manager.

ID cards are mailed in batches periodically by a outside contractor. Sometimes you get them right away and sometimes it can take a few weeks.

I also closed on 11/29. My first call to MS got the same result so I hung up and called member accounting. They verified my info and gave me my member I'd #. Hung up, called MS with my ID # and made a ressie!

Update:

I called back. It seems our social security numbers were not entered with the new account, so there was no way to verify who we were. I asked if there was someone I could talk to, to get my member id, and was transferred to membership administration. Was able to get my id that way, and was transferred back to make our first reservation. We'll be staying at OKW January 21-28th. So excited!!! Also book AKV Value 1 Bedroom for Sept 22-28th.

For anyone else who gets told "you need a member id", just ask to be transferred to administration and they can help you out. Everyone I spoke with was so nice.

My first resale contract took right at 10 days to get into the system, my recent bwv only took 7 days .

I just had this same issue. They sent me some welcome stuff in the mail but not my ID cards yet. I called the DVC phone number and they refused to help me without my member ID (which I didn't have yet) or the last 4 of my SSN (which I didn't give them to store yet since it was my first time calling). After arguing with the guy for a while telling them that if I should have received the information already and that I needed it resent, he continued to tell me he is unable to assist me without being able to verify with either of those 2 pieces of information. I was transferred to a manger and she suggested I call number 800.782.6767 which is the quality assurance line. There was no wait or automatic message. Someone actually picked up right away (shocking!). Then after giving this lady all the info in the world (use year, points, cost, other people on the contract, address, etc) she gave me the info I needed to register online for only me (but not the others on the contract). She later told me the ID cards don't get mailed out for at least several weeks even though the original DVC phone number kept saying I should get them any day. The quality assurance line was great. She was able to access ALL my information about the contract.

TL;DR: Call 800.782.6767 if you need any help. :dance3:
