New member booking question

We recently bought a resale contract that is closing tomorrow so we haven't had access to the member reservation site. Can I book a reservation that is more points than my account has in it as long as I acquire the needed amount of points by the time the trip needs to be paid?

I'm wondering because we will have 64 points we can use in 2016. Can we book a reservation that is say 130 points (without borrowing from 2017) as long as we get a transfer for the extra amount we need before the deadline? Or does the website only allow you to make reservations that could be made with points you currently have in your account? Hopefully that made sense...

You can book a room only with points you have in your account at time of booking, including any current points, banked points, or points you can borrow from the next use year, and any points transferred in. You cannot book and then go find the points, via transfer, to fullfill the booking.

That rule applies regardless of whether you do online or phone booking. In other words, you must pay in points fully for a trip when you do the reservation; there is no other time thereafter when payment becomes due. Be aware that if you actually get transferred points before booking a reservation,s those transferred points will not show up in your online account unless they are in the same use year month that you have, and you will need to call MS to make any reservation using them rather than doing it online.
