Just bought into Vero Beach (MB $13 still good till 4/1 btw) today and wanted to know what are some of the member benefits? I understand that you can get 20% off at some stores at WDW and 10% off the "restaurant of the month" Are there any special member days where they let you into the park early or something like that? I'm sure I'll learn more about it in the welcome package but can't wait to hear!! :)

Thanks in advance,
Tony

Welcome Home Tonyboy,
DVC discounts/benefits are not that great. This is a sore spot for many. When you get all your paperwork you will be able to go to the DVC web site, from there you can view the benefits. Most apply while staying at a DVC resort on points. There are some tiny savings on tickets, but many members don't use them because they are not that great. Restaurants that have 20% savings are mostly in the Epcot Resort area area.
Sorry that I can't give you any great news on this

DVC member benefits are kind of limited. One that is good is that for Disney Stores (not the stores at WDW) we get 10% off most merchandise. Of course, the ability to pool hop is another benefit. The other discount programs tend to change and like Ann said you'll see them on the Web site. They include restaurant discounts, different tour and program discounts, etc.

Looking forward to contributing more on this board. I'm pretty addicted as you can tell already! The member benefits are nice but the place is what I'm paying for. Maybe I'm just used to getting nothing for free out here in California so any little discount is a perk. The only thing I think they should give us is a deep discount on park admission. I think 10% is kinda chinsy since Disney is counting on DVC members to enjoy the parks as well. I would say anywhere between 30-40% is fair. Just my two-cents.

Tony, welcome home.
I would suggest whenever you check in, you check on any specials. One year we had the Premium AP's, which included the water parks. We gave our nephew and family a room for the week. We went down to get him tickets for the water park one morning, and they had a special for DVC guest's. Pay for one day in a water park and get another free that week. It was a great surprise. I haven't seen that one in years, but keep asking, you never know. I wish Disney would start to compete with Universal. We have the APs there, and you get discounted on everything, almost everywhere. We just finished a trip in Feb. Same nephew bought an Ap, and we kept laughing, 'cause he kept whipping out his AP for everything. Discounts on things you wouldn't believe. It's working for us, we are starting to spend more time at Universal/IOA, because they are treating us better. It would be nice if Disney started giving some sort of real discount to members and Ap holders again.

WELCOME HOME!
