Hello everyone! We are on our way in 1 week to a Disney World vacation!! My 5 year old daughter has Spina Bifida and will be in her wheels for most of our visit to the park. What do I need to know to prepare! I am not even sure where to start!! The website is fairly vague, so I am asking the experts!~~

Thanks for the info! We are approaching sleepless nights as it draws closer and closer!!!

First let me say Welcome!
There is way too much info here to read with only a week to go. Yippee for you (we leave in 1 month!)
If you haven't already, try to get a priority seating for a character meal. Take it slow, you'll never see everything in one trip. Is anyone celebrating a birthday? If so get a birthday badge at City Hall in the MK. Get a good spot along the parade route early (1 -1 1/2 hours before parade time to stake one out) REST, rest and rest....take a break, go back to your hotel, nap first, then swim and be refreshed to stay up late and watch the fireworks. If you're in MK, be near the front of the castle to watch a surprise in the sky, fly over head! Do a search on these boards for your questions, there is a lot of info!!!
Have a great time

We are having dinner at 1900 Park Fair with Cinderella and another character (still a mystery) Wed March 8th. My daughter's birthday was Feb. 5th, but this is a birthday celebration. She is soooo excited!! Dinner with Cinderella is the highlight for her! :Pinkbounc  :woohoo:

Thanks for the welcome!

First of all, relax about your daughter being in wheels. Disney is SO wheelchair friendly. She's going to feel like a little princess herself. There's not a ton of special treatment but they take care of everyone with special needs. I've toured twice now with members of my family in chairs and it's been "painless" (for me, not them). Neither one has a permanent condition but it was an adjustment to our normal "let's walk all over the place" style of touring. With both trips, I just slowed everything down and Disney was great. They treated my father like he was a king or something.

Take a deep breath and let it out. This is Disney World. Don't let it overwhelm you. Enjoy the small things. There are so many things there that you can't possibly see everything. So do what you can, enjoy those, and then realize the rest will be there on the next trip.

Check out the disABILITIES forum for some great info - lots of super stuff in the threads that are 'sticky' at the top of the list.
