Q: What are the details of your upcoming price decrease? When will my rate change?
A: We are lowering the prices on all subscription programs effective November 1st, 2004.
Our new pricing is as follows:

2-at-a-time, 4 rentals per month: $11.99/month
3-at-a-time Unlimited: $17.99/month
5-at-a-time Unlimited: $29.99/month
8-at-a-time Unlimited: $47.99/month
We will automatically change your billing rate to the new lower price at the time of your November billing cycle. You do not need to contact us to get the new, lower rate.

All members who finish their Free Trial period on or after November 1st, 2004 will automatically receive the new, lower price.

Woohoo! Thanks, Amazon!

Blockbuster online also had a price decrease. I wonder who followed who? I just cancelled Blockbuster after the trial - it was horrible. I got the first 3 movies, sent them back the next day and day after, and it took a full 7 days to get the next set in the mail

yeah, I'm just really hoping Netflix doesn't slow down their shipping time in order to reduce their costs. I'd rather pay $4 more a month and still get my new movie 2 days after I return an old one.

I tried Blockbuster also. Their Distribution Center was so far away movies were taking 5 days to reach me.

Hollywood Video has a new plan as well. $14.99 for unlimited movie rentals. $9.99 first month.

Jasminesmommy, how many out at one time? And do you have to go get them or do they mail them out to you like Netflix?

Thanks for posting this - I heard on Clark Howard that a price decrease was coming but didn't know when. We just joined last week and so far we love it. We got our movies in 1 day! I thought that it was a great deal for us already - and this just makes it even better!

Yes, thank you for posting this, I haven't received any email yet. I'm ALL for lower prices!!! Thanks netflix!! ::yes::

I was thinking of canceling at the 21.99 price. I was on a two week free trial and when I was about to cancel they offered a promotion of $14.99 for six months. That ran out at the start of Oct. So I will be at $21.99 for one month then back to $17.99.

Works for me!!!

It helps a lot that one of their distribution centers is about 40 miles away and delivery/return usually takes one day each way.

Let's just say I "watch" a lot of movies.

Netflix is GREAT!! Just don't forget that they charge tax on the monthly rate, so when it automatically gets deducted from your account, make sure you are deducting the FULL amount.

To be sure what is being deducted, go to YOUR ACCOUNT then VIEW BILLING ACTIVITY.

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure why my checkbook was off $2.64!!!

MerryPoppins I believe as many as you like and its a store you go to.

I just ended my Netflix boycott and signed up for the $11.99 plan. Based upon my rental history from the last time I had netflix, I rarely had more than 4 rentals a month.

So let's see how it goes, and let's hope that the post office doesn't steal my DVD's again.

We LOVE Netflix in our house, this is good news!!!!! Yeah for competition!!!!!!!!
