New Limited Time Magic for "the big game"

The same thought is included in every answer of mine (including the one you quoted) since I started fielding questions about LTM a couple of months ago.

Most people don't notice the stickies either, so I don't think that'll help much.

That's right... I forgot that your posts are the best ones... ;) :rotfl:

Sounds like you meant the same thing. It read to me as though Disney hasn't made these announcements early enough for people to plan which frustrates many. I guess my point was that this promotion is not designed to have you plan around it -- it's some of the more spontaneous magic that many people like about a WDW vacation. pixiedust:

I'm assuming stickies exist to provide somewhere to direct people to (even if they don't notice it themselves at first) that will have complete info - particularly for recurring questions like this thing that will last all year. Honestly -- makes no difference to me either way -- just a suggestion to any powers-that-be on here. :goodvibes

That's what I said. ;) You'll note I did not say it frustrates me, but then I can get there relatively easily and am therefore spoiled.

Even the "even" one Wrath of Khan? Really?!? :goodvibes

That's okay. His franchise is doing so well that it had to steal a director from my franchise. :) (Honestly, I love them both.)

:rotfl2: Sheesh. OK -- I can tell what the "correct" answer is here: mesaboy2, you are SO RIGHT!!! How's that? :rotfl:

There are so many real things to get frustrated about, that I guess whether I live next door to WDW or 3000 miles away, a Limited Time Magic promotion doesn't have the power to frustrate me. :) But, then again, I have gotten a bit more zen over the years... ... :hippie:

We are saying the same thing all thread long, yet you quoted me as if I said something different than you. I am not looking for validation, but whatever. :confused3

I'll let this one get back to topic, sorry OP. :goodvibes

what is the current topic?

But anyway yes I think this promo is kind of like year of million dreams in that unexpected things will happen every week or so and just get over it if you need to plan for an unexpected surprise. :thumbsup2

:confused3

Vote for a logo....and now this? This is becoming more and more lame each week. What a disappointment. I have no confidence it will be anything good when we arrive in the World 60 days from now.

OMG!!!!!!!!! TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!
What a let down!!!!!!!!

I think the problem comes from them announcing those few themes/events at the onset (Valentine's, 4th of July, etc.). I think it led people to believe that they would fill in the blanks shortly thereafter.

Hmmm....where have we seen this before recently? Disney gives only a few kernels of information about something and everyone (on the DIS, at least) goes nuts trying to figure out the rest.

Barely February and I am already tired of hearing how the promotion stinks because people don't understand it (also tired of reading how the sky is falling because of FP+ but that's another topic).

I don't recall the exact 'promotion' of the year for each of the last five years or so but my recollection is that they were not something that was so incredible that you were going to book a trip simply because of it (nor was that the intention). I just don't get why people think this year would be different. I understand the frustration at the lack of consistently creative ideas and communication. I just don't understand (or agree on) the disappointment level.

I'll never forget being down there when the New England Patriots won their first superbowl. Being a New Englander I was in my glory. Too bad they were in Epcot the following day and I was in the Magic Kingdom.

We do agree on most of the larger points that come up on here, I think -- our particular spin on it might be a tad different. Just sharing my spin and trying to have a bit of a sense of humor with you in the process - that's all - thought you'd take it that way. Don't mean anything bad by it, but I can certainly refrain. :goodvibes

Far more succinct than I! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Disney has SO MANY offerings and special events every year that we can / have to plan ahead for... Isn't the whole idea of this promotion that it will be a little surprise -- a little something extra -- added during your trip that you HADN'T planned on, but that you may want to check out? That's how I understood it. :confused3

That is the plan. I would however prefer to have the surprise a little more than football goofy and some soup.:rolleyes1

The reaction on DIS does feel the same! But I can understand the frustration with FP+ more, since it DOES require planning. With these annual promotions, I just plan as though it doesn't exist, and if something cool pops up while we're there, great!

But, I think that as mesaboy2 said, planning is the expectation of so many people on DIS, that it's almost like when they hear about these promotions they have an expectation that they SHOULD be able to plan around/for them. I'd suspect that most people don't read this expectation into Disney's annual promotions.

Barely February and I am already tired of hearing how the promotion stinks because people don't understand it (also tired of reading how the sky is falling because of FP+ but that's another topic).

#limitedtimemagic The entire Disney online community whining. Unfortunately, this isn't for a limited time...
:rotfl:

The Super Bowl pre-parade is being offered on additional days, which means spending more money. We're against spending money now?

It's the off-season at WDW, not sure why we expect them to resurrect Horizons for #limitedtimemagic when there is no one there...

As far as we knew, there was nothing planned before True Love Week, so this is a nice added surprise.

I'm glad they're putting a little promo behind the I'm going to Disney World Campaign with this "Limited Time Magic". If I was down there right now, I would probably make Monday my MK day to see whoever (hopefully someone from the Baltimore Ravens) takes that ride down Main Street. It's such a part of the Super Bowl seeing the Super Bowl MVP commercial and the clip of him going down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom.

I Agree

I was just there Jan 25-28th, and the Long Lost Character thing was great, even though it was way too crowded to do it.

But getting an online poll as a LTM for the second half of our vacation was... well, it doesn't make you feel very good inside (although I did the poll anyway).

With Year of a Million Dreams, at least you knew it was only a chance that you might have something happen. For LTM, Disney tells you they're going to do something, and you look forward to it.... and then it turns out to be the chance to buy a hat, or vote on a poll that you knew they were going to post on the Disney Parks Blog anyway.

And then you feel like kicking yourself a little bit, because you didn't pick your vacation a week before or after. It would have been better if they'd just said it was totally random, instead of every single week.

I just think that a promotion should make you feel like something is being promoted (like how awesome Disney is), instead of showing you what an awesome thing someone else is going to be getting, and giving you disappointment.
