I moved last week from Wisconsin to Puerto Rico. I love it here very much but am a little homesick. I don't miss the cold and snow but do miss my 22 year old son very much. The language barrier is freaking me out. I thought I knew enough Spanish to get by but am realizing that my Spanish is a joke. Everyone talks so fast I don't understand a thing lol. I sure will miss the Wisconsin, Illinois DIS meets. Well I just needed to log on and say hi and see a few friendly faces. I miss you all, especiallly Mr. Murphy!! Hugs!!

Kathryn, it is so good to hear from you. I am glad to know that you made it to Puerto Rico okay. Don't worry about the language barrier thing... I had a friend who moved to just outside of Cancún, Mexico and within a few months it got so much easier for her. I will say I know from personal experience that the Puerto Rican dialect is a tad harder to understand, but it does get easier :) I wish you all the best and I hope you can stop in from time to time :)

 Hi Kathryn! I hope you're not too homesick! It's only been a week! Enjoy the warm weather down there.

Awww, that's a big life change! Good luck to you! I'm sure in a little while you'll settle in and life will be wonderful! :) :) Best Wishes! :) :)

Hi there!! How exciting to be living in PR!! I'm sure you'll get used to it soon and hey we could have DIS Meets down there!!:smooth: :bounce:

Moving is always hard. I always look at it as an adventure! It is cold and dreary here in New York today, supposedly we are getting a noreaster. Please sit outside with a good book and a tropical drink and send some warm thoughts our way, and when you feel lonely stop by the disboards!

Ooooh! Congratulations (but sorry you are feeling homesick).

I dated a guy from PR for three years. He was from the West Coast. I was lucky enough to visit the island 3 times and it is beautiful!!!! You are right, they do talk VERY FAST!!! Good luck! I'm sure in time your Spanish will improve. Do you have any immediate plans to tour the island? Your tag says you are in San Juan, so make sure you check out the rain forest (El Yunque). I have heard that there is some good snorkeling in Fajardo, which is on the East Coast.

Have you tried any new foods? I love tostones, pin~on (sorry, don't know how to make the n with a tielde) and empanadillas.

Wow, wow, wow! You are living one of my dreams. I would love to live in PR for a year or so. How long will you be there?

Hope you make a bunch of friends. Puerto Ricans are such wonderful, friendly, happy, festive people. Enjoy yourself!!!!
