New layout on the membership dashboard

It would really be nice if they dedicated their IT efforts to fixing the bugs (ie: resale borrowing) instead of making the fonts look prettier.

My guess is that to fix that glitch, and keep borrowing at 50%, it would require way too much behind the scenes to individual accounts having the issue...remember, there are some who own direct points who also have the issue, even though resale is more prevelant...that its easier to just leave at is, because at this point, there is no reason not to have it fixed unless it could mess up owners current points and reservations.

There are, of course, many problems with the site, including too often getting the dwarves when trying to do a reservation, for which fixing should take priority over making the site prettier. The one mentioned is actually more of an issue than one might think. Modern resale purchasers cannot borrow online to make a reservation. That means at any 11 or 7 month window, they cannot do a desired reservation until after 9 a.m. while all other members, including those who borrow, can reserve online an hour earlier.

The longer that problem lasts and goes unfixed, including if DVC just doesn't want to fix it because of cost, the higher the chance that the disadvantaged members will have a valid claim for breach of the POS and applicable contracts. The POS documents expressly provide that, other than home resort advantage, all members stand in a first come-first served position for any DVC reservations. It is that provision that prevents, for example, DVC from creating special reservation timing privileges that favor those who buy more points directly from DVD than others. That online borrowing issue for resale purchasers results in those resale members not being able to reserve at 11 or 7 months out until an hour after other members can reserve, including with borrowing, thus potentially violating the first come-first served rule of the POS by having a system that allows some members to reserve at 11 and 7 months out before others.

I went to check it out after reading this post, and my Bay Lake is still all squashed and even blurry.

Extra fun? They asked me to do a survey. OK, disney IT, I'll do a survey when the reason for my visit today was to see if people on the disboards were correct that the dashboard art is all wonky...

I think one of the options under reasons for visiting the website is “just for fun”….
PS my BWV looked awful too until I refreshed the page. Then it looked reasonably good.

Good points. Maybe they should have simply stopped all online borrowing until they got it fixed? At least that would not give some owners an advantage over others. Not ideal but at leafy better than what we have now.

Can you imagine the MS hold times if they had done that? :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::headache: :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::headache:

I know! would have been awful. I just wish they could explain why it hasn’t or can’t be fixed.

I get that at first, it may not have been worth it, but after almost 19 months? Not acceptable any longer.

Maybe they should allow owners who have the issue to borrow points ahead of time without a reservation and then if they don’t get what they want at 8 am, let those owners put them back.

I chose other. And wrote a sentence.

The screenshotted images are on my other computer, but a few years back they were doing work on the site, and before the site fully refreshed they had some very weird icons (emoji-like, but I don't think we were using the word "emoji" yet) as place holders for various buttons and links. Minnie's face and simple things like that, but I remember that an image of a smoking cigarette was one of the most-used ones. It was the strangest thing.

Disney IT is bizarre.

It happened on Thursday night around 8:30 pm pacific. I'd say it's broke, not new.

I had to call MS yesterday and mentioned it just to see if they said that other people were saying the same thing. His response was just that it might be the large amount of traffic to the website and I of course said no more about it as that's pointless.

The could make it along the lines of the airline 24 hour refund policy after purchase. DVC could make all borrowing reversible up to 24 hours from borrowing. That was you can reverse the transaction if you can't aquire your desired reservation. It would save DVC the IT expense and allow members a slight window to reverse borrowing.

The stylesheet isn't loading. Google "stylesheet" or "css" if you're curious what that is/does.

Probably the new web access firewall they migrated to in July pulled an update and is now blocking it (until someone goes in and fixes it.) The one for the notifications page has been broken (blocked) since July.

I couldnt do anything. I wanted to bank points, nope! I wanted to cancel a reservation, nope! I wanted to modify, nope! I couldn’t get my dashboard to load (so couldn’t do anything). Trying to bank points woke up the dwarfs. my banking window closes in 10 days. I did do the survey……😳

I am a recent resale owner (PVB in July) and had no problems last month borrowing 26pts on a 75pt contract to add a second room to our May 2022 reservation. So, it is definitely not all resale owners. I also have a direct membership (different UY) and have borrowed 17pts on a 210pt contract to complete a HHI reservation in March 2022.
I can imagine how frustrating it would be if this impacted all od the resale owners and I would think that the IT issues would be easier to pinpoint if they were consistent. Since not all resale owners are impacted, it may not be an easy solution.

I think you are right. I too have had no issues borrowing with my resale contracts.

But you do then wonder how can a system give issue for some and not others? Not an IT person so all I can think of a coding error that triggers it for some and not all?

Try clearing your cookies and cached images. I apparently now need to do that every time I want to look at my dashboard.

I also can't find the link to email DVC member services. Did it get moved or removed?

So if anybody goes to their Points Activity and see a wacky Transferred Out amount? We show that we transferred 800 points out but our point summary and totals are correct. I can also no longer see how many we have borrowed from the next year.

yes, I also do that before logging in. It’s standard for me. Tks. I use both my PC and iPad (chrome & safari). Up until this weekend I was limping along ok. Now I can’t get my dashboard to load at all. I saw some older reservations on my dashboard last week that I canceled many months ago…it was weird. It’s no wonder why availablity is so sparse, I cant even cancel my unwanted days and when I do, they reappear again later. This system is so bad and only gets worse. Tks for letting me vent.

Wondering if it occurs when borrowing a second time or modifying a reservation with borrowed points?
