I heard from a "little" birdie (lets just say I have some new found connections) that there is to be a new "land" (sort of) announced for the Magic Kingdon on Oct 1st........

They will be reproducing the Mermaid Lagoon section of Tokyo Disney-Sea at Orlandos Magic Kingdom complete with 6 new family friendly attractions and an under the sea Arial Ariel Spectacular . It is to be EXACTLY LIKE the Tokyo version of Mermaid Lagoon which can only be good as everything they build there is top notch. Looks like it is scheduled to be open by 2008...

For you nay-sayers remember where you heard it first when it opens.......

Personally, I wish they'd bring the Journey to the Center of the Earth attraction here.

Hi,
I will be there on oct 1,do you know where i could go to hear it???

Funny thing is Ill be there Oct 1st as well but have no idea. I do know the location of the new lagoon is to be behind Fantasy land in the area that 1000 leagues under the sea once was.

OMG, as Ariel is my absolute favorite character EVER (obviously, due to my name!!) I am SOOOOO excited about this. Ever since the submarines closed here at Disneyland (a sad day indeed :guilty: ), I have thought they should do an Ariel attraction. Now they are doing Nemo, which I like, but it sure isn't the Little Mermaid in my eyes. In fact, I have wanted to go to Tokyo Disney because they have so mnay cool attractions that the US Disney Parks don't!! I am SOOO happy, you truly made my weekend! I REALLY hope the OP's connection is correct!

I was confused for a minute there too, but after re-reading the OP's post- it looks like WDW!

I only mentioned DL cause the submarine ride WOULD have made a great Little Mermaid Ride, but they decided to go with Nemo instead. I was really bummed about that when I found out. Nemo is a fun movie, but I feel like he is everywhere! (TT with Crush at WDW and DCA, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, The submarine ride at DL, and The Nemo Musical at AK). The news is great about the new Mermaid Lagoon...cannot wait!

Until DISNEY states it so so then I will believe it not before. I would love to see this happen as long as it is not another roller coaster ride. Let the imagination begin.

It makes sense... the right kind of attractions, with the right level of investment (pretty low, actually), for that part of the park.

I will take a wait and see attitude. Just like the new DVC resorts at the AKL and CR, will will not believe it until Disney make the official announcements..smjj

Aren't they also rereleasing the Little Mermaid DVD in Oct? If so, that lends a little more credence to the rumor. But I can certainly wait until Oct 1 to see if it's true.

Isn't the 100 Acre Woods playground area built where 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was?
Yes. Also the land behind the RR tracks are never to be built on. Walt Disney designated that to stay "wild" so that all future guests would know what FL use to look like. They told us that again on the train tour last June.

Usually these rumors aren't worth the cyber-paper they're written on. I will say it makes some sense in that there is room, they will again be copying an attraction from another park, and they could wrap an ad campaign around it.

It makes no sense for Disney to make a large addition to the one park that is already always crowded. Just my opinion though.
