Hi all!
I am starting a new job today! I have been at home for a few years, doing computer work for others, and taking care of dr. visits, meds for alzheimer mom and stroke in-laws.

I will be working full time for the school dist. covering the job for someone who is taking 4 months off. I am starting out as a substitute--if someone is sick, I will cover them. Hopefully, all will go well for me, it will be hard to stay on plan, when I work all day.

I did start my schedule off right, I got up at 5 am and did my Pilates workout, I am afraid I won't stick with working out now.

Hats off to those of you who work full time and manage to exercise AND stay on your plans!! Any advice would be helpful!! :)

Just wanted to say congratulations on the new job! :D I understand how it can be hard sometimes to stick with a healthy diet & exercise when working full-time. I have been working overtime lately and am taking MBA classes 2 evenings a week, too. I try to take one day at a time & realize that I am not going to be able to exercise everyday when time doesn't allow it. I have been bringing food to work every day so I know for sure that I have the right foods to eat & am less likely to go off plan.

Working full-time thru the week I have found that I usually have more time over the weekends to get my exercise in. Hope this helps!

Congratulations and best wishes on the new job!! I decided I don't have the motivation to set aside a specific time to exercise so I'm now strapping on my pedometer all day and just trying to increase my steps. Eventually I hope to work up to 10,000 steps a day. That way, I can work at it little by little all day and not set aside an hour to exercise. I'll let you know if it works - I'm just starting today!

Make sure you have emergency snacks with you wherever you go. I'm on Atkins so I always have an Atkins bar, single serve pack of nuts or sunflower seeds or beef jerky with me. It's not usually enough for a meal but it tides me over.

Good luck on your new job!
It is tough trying to fit an exercise program in -- I work a full-time job at home, a part-time job out of the house, 3 kids, a husband, etc. The key for me is trying to get my exercise out of the way first thing in the morning, even if it means getting up 45 minutes earlier (which I don't always do!:p ). I find that by the end of the day I'm just too tired. And, like others mentioned, I try to find exercise where I can, like parking in the furthest spot away in the parking lot, or taking steps instead of the elevator.
The biggest thing I have found, tho, is to not beat yourself up if you miss a day (or days!). Just get back on track when you can!

Hey!!! Congratulations on the new job!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc And a big pat on the back for getting up and doing Pilates at 5 am!! Getting up early to exercise is not something I've been able to talk myself into just yet. I know I should, though. I would be a lot more consistent with it if I would--I'm just not a morning person!

I work for a school system, too, so I know it can be tough to stay on program when people start bringing all the goodies in. As long as you're prepared with some Atkins friendly snack stuff, you will be fine!! I find that if I have something I CAN eat, I'm not as tempted to eat the stuff I CAN'T have. You may even find some people at the school who are doing Atkins, too. That would make it even easier to stay away from the bad stuff!!

hi there.......congrats on the new job..........I finally found a part time early morning job myself which was the one thing that was stressing me out and driving me off my plan. So I can only imagine how excited you are. I don't know what advice I have for you to stay on you exercise plan other than to do it the same time everyday. They say after 3 weeks of doing something it is officially a habit..........but we all know that even after doing something for that long we can still stray from the path. I myself am going to get into an exercise "routine" next Monday. I am working on setting up a specific schedule (which I can now do because I have my work sitch figured out) for exercising and some other things I would like to set a specific time for. I personally feel that the more structure and organization I have, the better I am at something.

I wish you lots of luck in both your new job and your exercise routine. I just know you will do great things and that you will go very, very far!!!! Always think positively, it's not only contagious but when you do that, POSITIVE OUTCOMES OCCUR!!!!! I am thinking positively for you!

Have A Disney Day!!!!!!:smooth:

Congratulations on that new job. I'll bet you find a way to keep up with your exercise. When you don't want to do it, come here to WISH and look at that pretty gold clipart in your signature. That should help keep you motivated.

Congratulations on your new job! Good luck with staying on plan! Fitting in the time for exercise is always the hardest thing for me, but it sounds like your off to a great start by getting up early this morning!
