I just wanted to post for any who might be interested in the new Jedi Training show, Trials of the Temple. We were in the parks yesterday, the first day for the new show. They are now using a pre-registration system. The pre-registration is done at the former Autopia fastpass distribution area, which is at the exit from the Star Wars Launch Bay. You need to have the child with you to register, and they let you choose the show you want. There were 36 participants per show.

We arrived at about 11:15 and there was still one spot left in the penultimate show, and about 10 spots in the final show. However, I would expect that will not be the case once word of pre-registration gets out.

The show is very similar to the previous show. It was a bit of a let down for my child.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear it was a let down - How old is your child - why was it a let down for them?

Thank you for the update. Question: at what time does registration begin for each days shows?

My son is 9 - so a bit on the older side to do the show, but still young enough that he was excited. I think he felt let down for a couple of reasons. Firstly, because of the length of time that the show was shut down, we were expecting some more in the way of changes. Instead, it is much the same with a few "decorative" changes. Also, the show features a female character who is - I guess - supposed to be funny. She just acts silly and dumb the whole show, which maybe appeals to four year olds, but made the whole thing seem more cheesy than real for my son.

Also, half the kids just fight Darth Vader, not the new character. My son was put in the new character's line, then halfway through the show the two characters switched places. I understand half the kids don't get the new character. Them's the breaks. Last time we came my son wanted to fight Darth Maul and didn't luck out then, either. But why switch the characters halfway through? Then you get a bunch of kids who *think* they got the new character, then have the rug pulled out from under them as they are about to go out to fight. Does that make sense - ? In other words, I think it is more deflating to be standing in line, watching this new character, getting closer and closer and then having her switch than it is to just not get put in her line at all.

We were still happy he got to do the show. He was excited to do it on the very first day. Also, they give out a large pin to each "youngling" at the end (rather than a certificate), and it was cool to get something new.

I'm sorry. I don't know the answer to this question. Before we left, I took note that the show returned on our last day and I thought, "I will have to remember to check that morning and see if they are doing some sort of registration system." Then the day actually arrived, we ran off to (an insanely packed immediately) Fantasyland and I forgot all about it until we got to Tomorrowland.

The first show of the day was 90 minutes after park opening, and they wanted the kids there 25 minutes before the show. So I would guess/assume that registration starts at park opening.

Also, this was the first day and they have a lot of organizational elements to work out. They were kind of a mess with the registration - and the participant waiting area before the show was chaos. I'm sure they will get it together, but I wouldn't assume anything that we experienced would be the norm going forward.

I noticed this change on the Disneyland.com site. Hopefully they'll have the bugs worked out by our trip.

The sign up is nice- DD is 11 but VERY tall for her age- we tried a lot in the days we were in the parks in oct and she never got picked - he never looked at her at all. I'm sure there are other tall kids that don't get considered

I agree it seems weird to switch half way through. We went last year my son was 10 when he did it - we came from Australia and that could potentially be our one and only time. So he was very excited to do it - he did get to fight Darth Maul - which I didn't know at the time but was the one he wanted. I read on here one day sometime ago that they used to get the smaller kiddies to fight Darth Vader and the older ones Darth Maul as he was thought to be possibly scarier to the little ones :confused3. I don't think they need to make JTA cheesy I liked the 'serious' Jedi feeling of the old one.

They probably switch for the benefit of the audience. After all, it is a show, and the majority of people watch without participating.

Perhaps. But I am not sure how having them switch lines improves the show.

So that the people seated on one side of the stage get to see both.

They are not located at opposite sides of the stage. They are both in the middle of the stage. Did you ever see the old show? it is the same set up (except in the old show the two characters did not switch places).

But they faced one direction or the other.

But they faced one direction or the other.

They faced the exact same direction. They both faced right in the first half of the show. They both faced right in the second half of the show.

Have you ever seen the show? It doesn't seem like you have.

I watched the first few minutes of the new show yesterday, but was so irritated at the dorky girl character that I left. It makes my feminist side boil when I see a female character who isn't allowed to be either powerful or skillful without having flawed social skills (as if some males can only allow a girl to be smart if she's also a dork and therefore not a threat to them). But I guess little kids don't really care as long as the jokes are funny. haha :teeth::duck::yoda:
