New item for "must pack" list

Great post! Never thought of the hamper thing. We just had a "corner" that I put dirty clothes in. The kids never thought of putting them any place except where they fell. But they are good about using a hamper at home. Then I used our snorkle gear mesh bag to get things to the laundry room.
I had a bit of a wait one day, but it was my fault for trying to do laundy on a sea day in the middle of the afternoon. LOL, NOT the best time.

Went to Target today and bought my pop up hamper. I couldn't find the solid color mesh ones, but I did find a primary color, block pop up hamper. For $6.00 it will do the job.

We also picked up our over the door shoe holder and clothes pins.

We don't leave for 7 months, but our theory is if we buy a few things here and there, it won't be such a big hit before we leave.

Keep up the great tips!

We had bought everything last year for our cruise in Nov. Not buying anything for this Nov. Our cruise items have been ready for a long time.
When we got back from PO/FQ I took the bathroom bag and put it away under 1 of the bathroom sinks (except for expiring items)
Have the tropical shirts - hope DSs still fit him. Our Disney t-shirts are in a drawer ready to be put back in a suitcase.

Ive been ready

We do a slight twist on this. We don't bring a hamper, but we do bring a duffle bag. We bring it down folded up. We open it and put it in the closet and use it as our hamper. When we go to do laundry it is easy to carry and has an outside pocket for change, tide tablets and dryer sheets. Best of all we can use it on the way home full of clothes (clean or dirty if we decide not to do laundry) and save room in the big suitcase for souvineers.

This has worked well for us on many, many trips.

DisneyEveryYear, what specifically is the over the door shoe holder for? I assume the clothes pins are used for hanging wet things in the room.

WDWLVR, Tide Tabs! What a great idea!

Laundry and me don't mix while on vacation. But everyone here has such great ideas, maybe it won't be so bad afterall! ;)

I bought the over the door shoe hanger before our "cruise" last Nov. When plans got "changed" we did bring it along anyways. It hung on the tv cabinet door in our PO/FQ room. Came in very handy. Used it for extra film, camera, baggies, night light sticks, autograph book, sunglasses, meds that werent needed every day, all the small stuff.
Its w/the bathroom bag under the sink ready to get onboard ship.

I'll never travel w/o a shoe holder again! DH thought I was nuts, but after seeing it, he said I was a genius! ;)

Each family member got a row to organize their toiletries...toothbrushes, hairbrushes, scrunchies, makeup, mousse, hairspray, perfume.....then a row for meds, pepto, aspirin, nyquil, kitchen sink........and then there were 2 big pockets on the bottom perfect for the blowdryer. It kept the counter completely clear and everyone could find what they needed/wanted. It made my job as mother much easier! :p

We're doing a back to back in June/July and figured we could do laundry when everyone else has left the ship. Our kids are going back to OKW for the week we're on the second half and they can do their own laundry there (Ha!). Having cruised and DVC'd alot over the years we've come to use cinch sacks from Glad and simply tie them up as needed. If, perchance dirties need to be packed in with cleans it will segregate them and the smell also. Another tip dw came up with is to take along a bunch of those dryer sheets and stuff them between the cloths before, during and after. Be mindful, however, as nice as they make things smell there are some odors that cannot be covered up!:earseek:

I'm in Chicago and I just got 2 of the collapsible hampers Sunday (5/17/03) at Menard's and they were $2.99 each with a $2.00 rebate each so they'll end up costing me 99 cents each. The rebate comes in the form of a merchandise rebate meaning you can only use it to buy something at Menard's but who can't find anything at Menard's. I just bought a chain saw and totally paid with rebates.

Walmart also sells these bags in navy & red for around $ 4.00 each. They also have the horizontal or vertical, which is helpful depending on where you want to keep the laundry...

Stupid question: I bought one of those pop-up hampers, opened it and saw how it was. Now I can't get it closed back to anywhere near as compact as it came. Any advice.

Keep trying NCRedding! It takes a few tries for me to get it right every time I open my pop-up hamper. I don't do laundry during the cruise or on vacation if I can help it, but we take along the hamper to keep clothes in during the trip and pack them up for the trip home. That way the big bags can stay stored under the bed until time to pack!

Hopefully someone can answer this and if it was asked already I'm sorry . How do you bring your essential oils ? Especially in the heat ? I want to make sure I have on gaurd and deep blue .

As a solo cruiser and a light packer (I've done several month long land/cruises with just a carry-on bag) and always have to do laundry which I don't mind. I typically use one of my compression suitcase cube bags to move my stuff from my stateroom to the laundry room and I always do laundry late in the evening. I personally don't mind having to do laundry several times during a month long trip because it's so much easier than having to lug around two or more bags.

You can also use your room card to purchase laundry soap and fabric softener. Less to pack and less you have to bring from home.

LOL this thread is from 2003! Pop up hampers are still handy though.

To the poster asking about essential oils....I just use a zip lock bag....love On guard.

I know old thread, but new replies and all...

Surprised no one has mentioned that there is a hamper with humidity control already in your room (at least on fantasy and dream)

Lift the lid on your coffee table/ottoman.

Perhaps newly discovered for some, but these have been around for at least ten years, because we have been traveling with them for that long. They are great.
