New interactive Magic Bands

Oh goody! I would be more impressed with this little nugget of technology if Disney actually had working websites and apps. After struggling to make ADRs this morning, trying to change park reservations and dealing with long-term issues on the DVC website, I am frustrated that this is where Disney chooses to focus their attention.

I wish I could like this 100x. Disney wants us to stare at our smartphones all day anyways, so why bother with this? I have a 6.1" OLED screen on my iPhone.

Agreed about ADRs, DVC website etc. For example, MDE just randomly deleted a day off of a non-expiring ticket that I need to deal with but we get magicband+. Yay?

This feels like a dumb question (sorry) but it's based off of my experience last week. Beyond apple watches/bands, etc - have MBs ever been able to tell time? It was so frustrating to constantly check my wrist (feeling like I was wearing a watch) only to find out nothing and then need to pull my phone out (at least enough to see the time). When I saw the headline for this, I had some hopes but the images seem not to have anything like this. Was there ever a phase or was it just not that annoying to others?

I'm concerned about battery life for these devices. The photos do not suggest that there is any sort of charging port (e.g. mini/micro USB) but it is possible that Disney have incorporated wireless charging ... but I suspect not. So, like the current magic bands, these are likely to have a limited lifespan which, given eco issues, is not a good signal.

Just saw this in the large Disney news thread:

I'm talking about the MagicBands. The Dooney MagicBands are $50.
Ohhhhh I didn’t see those. Gotcha. Yes I’m thinking $50 sounds about right for these. Kinda wishing they’d be out this year but kinda glad we’re missing them, since I do t see us going back anytime soon. But super glad to see the recharging feature. I’m always paranoid about using my old specialty ones and missing our ride pics.

On sale "Starting in 2022." I put the over/under for trip start as March 1. Anyone else have a guess?

I wear my Apple Watch and magic band next to each other.

Got it. I mean, if I had an apple watch, I would probably just buy bands that I liked but not both - I always get hot and struggle to keep jewelry/accessories on to begin with (I have a VIP bracelet that I have to actively force myself not to take off). I couldn't imagine wearing two things that would make my wrist hotter/sweaty (based on last week).

I'm pretty sure I had seen a slider or jibit for magicbands that had a working clock.
