Hey guys. I just think this board is wonderful, and it's awesome to find a bunch of Disney fans who have the same goals as myself. I just turned 18 and I've been fat my whole life. A couple years ago I lost 30 pounds on WW Points, but gained it all back. I just don't know what to do, and the only reason that I care about my weight is so that I can better enjoy my trips to Disney World, which are pretty much the highlight of my life. I know that drinking water would absolutely help me but - as strange as this is - I HATE water. Just thinking about drinking it makes me sick. Does anyone have any tips? And I'm a huge fast food/soda queen. Any suggestions on stopping that? You guys are great and I'm looking forward to the replies that I get.

Make water drinking a goal, and start slow. I swear by water and milk. If it helps it taste better, throw a few lemons in with that water. The lemon will also act as a diuretic, so, the water tastes better and helps you lose some pounds! Start by drinking just 16 oz. per day. You'll be up to the recommended 64 in now time!

Also, keep a food journal. Write down what I saw someone reference as every BLT, Bite, Lick, and Taste. You will become more aware of what you eat. I go in spurts with fast food, but then I began realizing how much it ends up costing me to eat out! It's ridiculous! I could save all that money for a really fun Disney vacation!

Disney is also what inspired me to lose. I looked at my pictures and I just wasn't happy with them. So, here I am, WISHing away the pounds. I also signed myself up for an extra trip to Disney to do the Half Marathon. What a motivator! I get to spend a few extra days iwth the Mouse, and I'm doing something good for me!

Keep checking in here at WISH. Grab a clippie, set some goals, and ask for whatever kind of help you need. I know we will give you as much as we can!

Feel free to PM me with any questions, concerns or begs for support that you might have. We've all been there in the starting stages, and I've not been here long. We would love to help you out!

WELCOME and HELLO TO YOU, Aerokiss!!

God bless you, honey, I know what it's like to be overweight as a youngster and it can be heartbreaking. I joined WW at the tender age of 14 and lost my first huge amount of weight and realized then how much more fun it was to be just me and not have that burden to deal with.

Fast food is easy to get past. Just don't go. I know it's easy but it's the worse way to eat and it's been proven over and over. Check out the results of the movie "Supersize Me"... :earseek: If you can't resist try very hard to order only the better options all of them are offering nowadays. If I could get my 11yo son to give up french fries, ANYONE can!

Take it from one who NEVER cooked, try it! When you make your own food YOU are in charge of what you eat. Carry around snacks that won't tempt you to buy the bad ones that are everywhere.

But most of all remind yourself that YOU are in charge.

It's NOT easy, it's a lifestyle. We slip, fall and fail but we can come back. The idea is NOT to give up.

God bless, and we love ya!

I feel you, I also am not a water lover, so what I have done is found a few different Crystal Light flavors I like and keep them constanly in the cabinet, I make a pitcher in the AM and I surly can finish that if not more by the end of the day.

I would also suggest picking some sort of personal plan you can stick with, dont pick one you cant do, that would set you up to fail. I personally do WW, for me and my life it works best, I can eat out and be very flexible about what I want to eat. Dont give up!! you can do it:cheer2:

Hi and welcome. I haven't been here long myself. I'm doing Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Solution and walking(might do videos soon when our temps hit 110's+) and doing some toning work.

As for soda in my experience it was easiest for me to stop by switching to caffine free ones first(since caffine can be addicting) then swapping out for other drinks like juice, milk, or crystal light(mostly water but flavored with a little artifical sweetner 5 cals.) Eventually I got a taste for water but it took time. Believe it or not if you stick with the water you will feel 100 times better and will actually start to crave it.

WW is great but you have to make it a for life deal. I lost 40 lbs on WW in about 20 weeks that was years ago but i quite the life changes I had learned do to some chaos in my life. I would do it again but it costs so much and we are broke all the time with a 10 month old baby.

Oh and I also know what it was like to go through high school overweight. I've been chunky all my life but didn't become overweight till junior high and it wasn't too bad like I don't feel I got made fun of a whole lot but it was hard I was really shy and was afraid to do things other kids did. :)

Just a hug for you since I know what you have been through. :)

You guys are so sweet! Thanks for the encouragement. I actually never thought about Crystal Lite. Thanks for the idea!
Yes, I've definitely been fat my whole life - if I had only known at 170 that I wasn't fat compared to what I would someday be! Actually, I'm at 215 now. I would love to be at 190 by my trip to Disney, which starts July 17. That's just not realistic, but I'll be happy at 200! :daisy:
I bet it's great to be able to walk around Disney and not have your feet on fire after 2 hours!

I got a pocket calorie counter that has many of the fast food places on there. It is called: The Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter 2004: Plus 170 Fast-Food Chains & Restaurants
You can get it at amazon or at www.calorieking.com
Anyway- I sat down and read the calorie counts of some of my favorite restaurant meals (we ate out a lot!) and found out how much I was eating!
It really helps motivate me to stay away- and help me make good choices when I do get fast food.
Sometimes I get something higher calorie- and eat half.
Hope this helps

:D

Hello Aerokiss! Welcome to WISH!

You have gotten some great advice here. You know yourself best, can you jump in with both feet and not look back, or do you prefer baby steps to change. Find a plan, or make your own! I too am a junk food queen. It has been the biggest struggle. For me what is working is to take it day by day. Plan ahead on days you may want fast food and work it in to your plan. I plan out a whole week of dinner foods, and I think I am going to add to plan out a whole week of lunches. You can do this! YOU ARE WORTH IT!

So where do you guys get all those cool little WISH things for your signature?
I just had a Slim Fast shake for breakfast! It's better than leftover pizza! :hyper:
That calorie counter thing sounds cool. I usually look in my WW Points book to see how many Points what I'm eating is worth. Sometimes, it's quite crazy. "They" should make fast food illegal. Ha!
