New Info on VMK Pin/Card sets

For those of you WoDNYC'ers, someone just called the Guest Services for the pin site and they are saying they will carry the pin.

So you have to buy two pins to get two cards? I don't have that kind of money, especially since I don't collect pins.

So do we know what the virtual prizes are? Are they what is listed on the cards? For instance, the first pin has pirate prison room on it... is that the prize for that card/pin?

You purchase a set of Pins for $14 and you will get two random pins with matching prize code good for the item in VMK.

so if you get the stitch pins you will receive the code for the flaming ransack window.

That's how it appears. If you click on the individual pin links, it appears that the pin is actually *on* the card.

This'll be fun to collect. I'll be trading pins/cards with trusted Dis'ers I'm sure

I know what I want for my birthday...I wasn't playing VMK when the pirate things came out, and when I actually got to the park the quests were retired. Here's my second chance! They come out just two weeks before my birthday.

OK - i am new to this whole thing. I have a few disney pins from a trip a while ago (we saw the lanyerds and thought it was cool) but i have not heard of this type of buying. Can someone explain it a little more to me? I don't recall seeing anything specific about it on the website. Can we pick which pins we want to order (it did say something about mentioning in the email sku # and description). Also is it 14$ per pin or per lot? that part wasnt clear on the page. Any info is great, as I am considering it (if i can afford to put money toward that and not rent or another bill tee hee)

We've been collecting pins since before it became popular and let me tell you it can be an extremely addicting and expensive habit once you start. We finally had to stop and just get the event pins from WDW. Anyway, with this series, you purchase a set of pins (2 per set), You won't know which set of pins you have until you open the box. If you are unhappy with your set, you can not return them. You will have to either sell them on ebay or trade with someone else. The problem here lies in the fact that usually a lot of other people have the same pins you have and are trying to get the more rare pins. Hopefully this isn't the case here. So, your $14 purchases one set of pins and one set (2) of cards. There is a possibility if you buy more than one set that you will receive duplicates.

As a side note to show you how addicting the pins can be. There is a pin trader at WDW who spent enough on Disney pins in one year to purchase a brand new Lexus.

Anybody want to come with me to the pin store at Downtown Disney (or maybe a park pin store instead) first thing that morning? We can buy pins and trade between ourselves to minimize duplicates.

I just noticed that you can click on the pin names on http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=21440 to see closeups of the cards. Note that they are NOT "Series 3" - they are labeled "Pin Series 1", meaning that we'll probably see more pins released this way. At $14 for a box of two pins including two cards and two virtual prizes, it's not a bad deal.

No! I was so close to completing my card collection, and now they have to throw in 10 more, which I will never get because not only can I not get to WDW in time, even if I could I wouldn't be able to pay that kind of money

to bad i am not close enough to disney to get them
and i don't feel like paying for non tangable objects (yes i know there is a pin in them but i don't colect pins)

I really do not like that these pins are random, sigh. I am sure I will buy a couple anyway. I really only want the chip and dale and stitch ones so keep me in mind if anyone gets those and wants to trade

If anyone is going to the parks that day, let me know, i will gladly paypal them some money to pick me up a few sets

Hey I did not notice a DLR release date, only WDW. Am I missing something??

Don't know if this is good news or not, but according the the webpage, they will only be available at WDW. You can still order them through the phone number they give, but like Briar said, the shipping is too much.
