New Indiana Jones movie coming

The depressing part would be to milk the franchise, but I think we know Disney's intentions regardless. Besides, Lucas really didn't create Raiders. He just copied the film I mentioned in an earlier post. It was a good copy, but the point is cutting Lucas out of the equation or leaving him in makes no difference. Spielberg and Ford made those films.

Some things are so good that if you saturate the world time and time again it begins to loose its luster.

It's kinda like Jaws...one and done should have been the ticket. Instead they had to keep going until it got completely stupid. Jaws is still a classic, but it would have been king of the hill had they just stopped after the first. Countless people know of Gone With The Wind. How many of those devoted fondly recall the sequel?

Some things are just meant to be left alone. I didn't mind Crystal Skull much, but it seemed much more fitting to end it with the ride into the sunset after Last Crusade. Had they followed that formula, we would have the great memories of three and not the mediocre memories of four.

I agree that sequels often stink...and remakes/reprisals of franchises can also bomb. However, if done right, they can be awesome. Crystal Skull was horrible and I think as someone else pointed out the casting was bad and most of us agree the plot was horrible. However, I think if the reprisal of the franchise would have gone a different route where Indy met his long-lost son, married Marion, settled down, and then off goes his son following his own adventures as Indy Jr., and the casting was correct (not Shia) then it'd be a great way to renew the franchise in a way fans would love! Look at the new JJ Abrams Star Trek movies - the casting and plots are amazing! I love the Star Trek movies and I have high hopes for the new Star Wars series.

Where Lucas fails is when he writes or has editing power of the screenplay...

He has decent ideas and concepts... But he absolutely cannot write dialogue that's meant to be read out loud...

What's funny about crystal skull is that Lucas, Spielberg, and ford all stated for months before it came out that is was "for the fans...we made it for the fans"

"Fan" must mean something different than I thought.

Two of the three sequels to Raiders did indeed "stink." Crystal Skull was bad - but not any worse than Temple of Doom! All that aside, I'm still excited for another chance at "Indy" movies, and from a different brain trust.

I've enjoyed the different takes on James Bond over the years, and I'm sure that I'll enjoy the different incarnations of Indiana Jones.

I was a big fan of the original star trek series and really love how they've captured the old crew in the new Star Trek movies. There still are a couple weak castings, I wasn't wild about their choices for Scotty or Chekhov. Though, Chekhov has grown on me a bit. I like Simon Pegg, but, every time I see him as Scotty I think, 'eh, nope.'

I could see Chris Pine or Chris Pratt in an Indiana reboot. Loved the suggestion of Nathan Fillion earlier on, but, unfortunately he isn't much behind Harrison Ford and I think they'd want to crank out some movies before needing another reboot. I hope not Bradley Cooper. I don't mind him, he's just missing something. Even with facial hair the dude looks perpetually overgroomed for an Indiana Jones role. Though, Chris Pine tends that way as well. Curious to see how Pratt pulls off the new Jurassic film.

Dude I love Temple of Doom. In my family we like to start chanting AUM NAMAH SHIVAYA (lather rinse repeat) and just act like we are going to start ripping hearts out. Then we yell Indy in a loud squeaky kid voice. I might even throw in a Kali Ma! For good measure.

Am excited to see the new Jurassic Park as well and Chris Pratt. I really felt old when Jurassic Park celebrated its 20th anniversary a few years ago!

LOL, another potential Chris! What's with all the Chris lately, seriously.. Yeah, I could see Hemworth as well. Yeah, I haven't heard a Chris Pine rumor, it was just a thought. It seems the only rumors being batted around right now are Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper. I like Bradley Cooper, loved him in Silver Lining Playbook, BUT, I always feel like he's the guy who knows his way around the bar scene, or rehab. Him with the classic bullwhip is just creepy. I don't know why, he just is.

I have always thought that both temple of doom and return of the Jedi are both highly underrated...


Now I understand the Jedi critcism with the ewok's and "sticks beat lasers"...so I can't defend that...but still

Overall I would say that Jedi is a good movie. One of the little bits that I liked was when C3PO told the E-creatures "the story so far". That scene was probably added by a ghost writer at the studio's insistence, over the strenuous objections of George Lucas

I downgrade it for going to the "let's blow up a death star" well again. Also Harrison Ford was basically clowned in the movie. Back 20 years or so there was an interview with him ... would you ever do another Star Wars movie ... he winced and said, "That character is a bit thin."

Well... He's 75 now, has to pay for plane repairs, and I hear ally mcbeal really likes new shoes...

So voila...Han solo rides again!

That character never had to be deep...he just had to be a hero...

But...big but...if you are a big fan of Star Wars history...you might know that Gary Kurtz - who never got nearly enough credit for the films - left half way through the production of Empire because he thought Lucas was going too bland/popcorn and the story would suffer...

Conveniently... Han solo was a good

Only ian mcdiarmid's incredible performance as the emperor lifted the game...
And then 20 years later he was in turn pretty awful.

He was interesting when he got out of the carbon freezing, he got off a good one-liner about people getting delusions of grandeur ... then his character disappears from the movie. He just stands there smiling and looking dumb.

The emperor really was great, cackling over the fight between Luke and Darth. Probably George was away from the set that day, going over the details of Ewok merch with Hasbro or something. I gather that he solved that problem in the prequels by working out the merchandising and special effects details before doing any principal shooting ... so he would always be on-set to make sure that nobody could get off a single non-wooden word, facial expression or gesture.
