Hi all! I am moving...tomorrow! I am in a complete frenzy and wondering if all these feelings are normal or if I am going nuts!

I found a house several months ago that I fell in love with, love where its at, the view the floorplan..etc. It was just foundation at the time so it was being built. I bought it and have picked out everything from the brick to the floors , tile, carpet, paint...everything but the floorplan and the location. Its finally finished(only one month late) and I move in tomorrow.

I am so very exicted, its my first house, I live in a very bad part of town now and live in a townhouse with no yard(I have a dog). Moving has been a dream for me for a long time and now its happening. I dont know , I probably am not making a lot of sense, but I am almost sick with worries. I feel like I am not ready to move, and the more I have to do the less that seems to get done. I feel guilty that I am so excited over my new house when I know that people have lost everything in the hurricane :( Just a mix of emotions. Plus the fact that I am signing over my life..lol...and going to be paying for the next 30 years, gotta love that truth in lending statement!

Is this normal? I have never bought a house, and I just am confused by all this emotional stuff :confused3

First of all, congratulations on your new house!

Your feelings are completely normal. I am a real estate agent, and I have seen it with almost every buyer I have worked with, at various stages in the process. Some get the 'buyer remorse' when they sign the contract, others just before moving in. You'll be fine once you're settled in. Enjoy your new home and the fact that you're not throwing away money on rent anymore!

Thank you ! Its not so much buyer remorse as much as it is a mix of excitement and nerves and guilt....ugh..I hope I can sleep tomorrow:)

What you are feeling is totally normal! I just moved into my new house a couple weeks ago - just as the hurricane hit. I had gone from feeling very excited about moving in, to feeling guilty because there were thousands who just lost everything they owned. I also - and I still am - worried about our new mortgage, but after living in my very small RV with 3 kids for three months, while waiting for this house to be finished, I am so happy to finally be in a home again! I love my new house, and I know that it's all going to work out just fine.

Aww congrats ! Its a weird feeling thats for sure. Its caught me off guard..its like I am waiting for something horrible to happen? Today my Dad was trying to light the water heater and I totally thought he was going to blow up the place! And yes I didnt want him to be hurt first off:) Second I thought of the house.

The nerves didn't get much easier with #2 or #3. Sorry, but that TIL statement is a doozie, isn't it! Your emotions are completely normal....this is a HUGE change....moving in and of itself is stressful, but now you throw in your first home purchase, which can be a confusing and daunting experience, all the financial stuff, oh, and the stress of putting everything in a box and having to undo it all over again at the new house!

Don't worry...it's completely normal! :grouphug:

But, it'll be a very good feeling when you get your keys, walk in and close the door behind you, and can tell yourself "I am HOME!" ::yes::

Enjoy! And good luck in your new home!

Buying a house, moving is rated as one of the most stressful things. It is normal. :)

One of my friends said I am in shock...lol thats just about right. I should be used to the moving part, Airforce brat that I am, its just sooooo weird! I hope that I can sleep tomorrow and that my poor dog doesnt freak out!

You will be fine and LOVE IT soooooo much.

I moved in April and am still getting things together. It takes time to get resettled. Some people are fast about it and some are slower.

Good Luck to YOU!

Aimee,

Anytime we close a chapter in our lives we feel something. It's a really grownup thing to be a homeowner (no matter your age). Yeah, you are making a huge step with a mortgage and all, but you are making an investment. You'll have equiy in that home.

Congrats. Try not to stress out, this is a happy time in your live and ENJOY it.

You know this makes perfect sense when you said it. It is a chapter in my life and a huge step forward, thanks for reminding me! I am 34 by the way and I still dont want to admit I am a "grown up" LOL. Thanks again!

You're so welcome. You'll make it a lovely home.

We just started the hunt for our first house and I'm already scared to death and nervous something will happen! I have watched many friends purchase their first homes and they all reacted the same way you have - so I'm assuming it's pretty normal!

I'm thrilled you found a place of your home and that you're finally getting to move in and make it your own space!

Good luck tomorrow!
Signed, Another Aimee!

You are moving tomorrow. Go to bed. :)

I cant! I have toooo much to do....actually I am beat , cant do one more thing...whatever is left I can come back for. The funny thing is I think I will be able to tell which boxes I just got plain tired with because I just started to throw stuff in there! So I may find my toothbrush in with my pots and pans but oh well :rotfl:

Thanks again!

Thanks Aimee(hard to find people with that spelling) I am thrilled beyond belief, like I said I was just so shocked at all the emotions I am going thru I started to think I was going crazy! I dont know but maybe its just that odd things have a way of happening to me and I kind of am always ready for something to go wrong. This has been such a great experience and I need to focus on all the good and enjoy it. After watching the house go up from the ground up and making every descision on paint, and stuff its almost as if I am giving birth! Plus you add in the rain delays..lol. Ok..I am going to bed now..thanks so much to everyone!
