New Horse--HELP!

Hi all

My daughter just got her first horse--a beautiful and sweet TB mare. But now I need to get all the "stuff" to go with it.

Any suggestions of online places where I can get quality tack and accessories without breaking the bank?

Also, I'm looking for places to buy her riding gear--any suggestions for that?

Being in NH, you have a Dover Saddlery store there http://www.doversaddlery.com/article.asp?ai=349 That is one of my favorites for finding good quality, reasonably priced supplies and equipment. They also run some pretty good sales on items such as blankets, sheets, de-wormers as well as attire. You can get their catalog and order online. You can also compare prices with www.statelinetack.com.

I assume that since the horse is a TB, your DD will be riding hunt seat or dressage. If she is doing western, there are other online sites that may be better for that.

Also, if she is boarding the horse at another barn or riding with a group of other kids, you may be able to share or exchange items with other people in the barn. We ended up trading things like riding boots, saddles, show attire such as jackets and breeches or jods when my DD was growing up. None of us had a lot of money and it worked out well for everyone. They grow out of the clothes and boots so quickly anyway.

they have an online store and an ebay site.. the ebay site is cheaper but people complain that the shipping takes too long....
