Hi Disney fans..I'm new here and visiting in October, but only for a short time. I have been doing research after research on hotels in the area. There are SO many! Anyone have any reviews on the Anaheim Fairfield Inn? Any suggestions/ideas would be much appreciated!

If you're talking about fairfield inn on s. harbor (between HoJo and McD) then we stayed there a couple years back.
It was clean, decent size (regular hotel room size not a scaled down room like Carousel Inn) and a decent walk distance (if you're with a group of adults). With kids tho, it might get a little tiring at night when you return from the park.
The pool if I remembered it correctly was not that fancy if you're a pool person.

The best part about it is that it's close to Mimi's cafe. Great food, reasonable price... :)

Yes, I'm talking about the Anaheim Fairfield Inn that's at 1460 S. Harbour Blvd. I thought it said it was right across from the main entrance? Sounds like it's a bit of a walk from what you said. I know there is another Marriott property on S. Harbour Blvd. too. Maybe that's the one you are talking about?

You have to understand that the "Main" entrance to Disneyland is basically an entire block. You need to walk to a crosswalk in order to cross Harbor. The Fairfield is on Manchester which is directly accross from the bus entrance to the park. It really isn't that far, maybe a 7 -10 minute walk to the security gate on the plaza from your hotel.

There is a map in the sticky showing where the hotels are in relation to DL.

Hi, DCM, welcome! What are your dates you'll be there in Oct?

The Fairfield is pretty well liked on these boards; most people say it's an older hotel, plain but clean, and pretty good prices, usually.

The Howard Johnson's is next door on Harbor and is another favorite, if you can get the Entertainment book rate ($59 standard, $74 deluxe). It's available on certain dates: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

Look for the fairfield inn behind Millie's on S. Harbor.
Entrance Plaza is right in front of IHOP.

Personally for me if I were to go to DL and look for a walking distance hotel I wouldn't pick any place any farther than Camelot Inn.
HoJo comes highly recommended but after staying at fairfield inn I decided against trying them because of the distance. Again, that is my personal opinion.

I've stayed at carousel inn and I think that hotel is a comfortable walk distance away from the entrance. The standard room is tiny compared to Fairfield Inn standard room but I only sleep there, so I didn't care.

There's always ART (anaheim shuttle) tho... I never used it so I can't comment much about it.

One of the things that you will find on this board is that most folks are leisure travellers. The thing that draws other folks (especially those with a lot of business travel) to Fairfield Inns is that it is a chain hotel and they have points credits for their loyalty plans. (I used to travel weekly for work and Fairfield was one of my hotels of choice.) (While HoJo is a"chain", the franchising is run quite differently.)

One of the things I like about Fairfield is that they are fairly consistent across the US. No matter the age of the building, the service and room is pretty much the same. Free internet to it's "mileage club" and continental breakfast.

It really is a short walk to the park - just about the same as from the Paradise Pier Hotel to the main gate.

This Fairfield did not offer a continental breakfast two years ago. I doubt it does not but if it does someone please correct me. I am only making note of this because that can play a big part in some people's mornings.

We stayed at the same one on Harbour last year and it did not. We ate at McDonald's each morning. My husbands biological sister had worked for Marriott last year when we went and if there was a breakfast we would have gotten it.

Parking is really bad there. If you have a vehicle, find a parking spot and never move until check out.

The pool was only okay. Nothing to write home about.

I wanted to add that DD was not quite 2 when we were there last year and she did fine on the walk to DL, but on the way home we had to carry her. Of course we also closed the park on our last night there (after 12). The walk is fine. No big deal. The ART would be a big waste of time and so would driving. You would get back quicker.
