Been one of those looky lous for the past few months.... Soaking up all the info and taking notes:)

First family vacation ever ... we're going to DISNEYLAND! :woohoo:

Nervous, excited and planning fanatic me is trying not to overplan so we have a great time. We are going for 9 glorious days and 8 wonderful nights!

9/23 - 10/1 (extended our trip so I could wakeup and play at Disney on DH and my 14th anniversary!

Could you tell me the must not misses.

Our group: Me 35:surfweb: , DH 36:wizard: , DD 3::MinnieMo, DD6princess: DD10pirate: DD12:tink:

:welcome:
Don't miss anything! Get to the parks early. Do fastpasses. If your daughters like princesses, do Ariel's Grotto (or so I have read. will do it ourselves for first time in November), PFF. POC and PP for any pirates in the family or if you just want to see Jack Sparrow :lmao: . Most of all, have fun, fun and more fun!
And congratulations on your first trip!:cool1: And keep a journal of each day to look back on. And take lots of pictures. And.......well, you'll get lots of advice from a lot of people on this board, go with it!

Soar'n Over CA - DCA
Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mtn, Matterhorn, Peter Pan, Big Thunder Mtn, Space Mtn, Buzz - DL

Lunch or Dessert at Blue Bayou

Character Breakfast at Goofy's or Plaza Inn

Shopping in DTD

Enjoy your trip :)

Can someone tell me more about Soaring over CA? It looks kind of scary! Is it a virtual trip or are your feet actually dangling on the ride?

your feet dangle but you are really not far off the ground...they have wind blowing in your face and piped in smells so it feels and smells like you are flying!!! I'm afraid of heights and was warned not to try this ride...I'm soooooooo glad I didn't listen...Now for me its a not to miss attraction!!!!

:rotfl: I just have to laugh about Soarin' I went the first time in Feb. I thought the "seats" would have a harness and would tilt very far forward to it would be like a hang-gliding experience. I didn't even try to get DD4 to go on with me. Boy was I surprised to see regular seats with lapbelts!:lmao: The seats do lift off the floor but you sit up-right the whole time. Great ride! I'll be sure to get DD on next time. ;)

Anyhoo, welcome to the boards. It's kind of information overload at first but such great info!!!!

Don't miss Tea-cups and make sure to ride the train all the way around the park at least once. It's a nice ride to do when you need a break. Also 1 child can sit in the very front on train #1. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the train. That is fantastic that you'll have so many days in the parks so it sounds like you'll have plenty of time to rest and still get everything in! Have fun!!!

Soarin' is my favorite ride at DCA. And if you lean forward in your seat, it makes the ride more realistic (to me anyway). Sitting back is good, too!:thumbsup2 . It's not scary at all and you are engrossed by the huge screen all around you so you don't even know how high up you are. There is a cool breeze through most of it and wonderful smells to go along with the sights. Don't miss it.

Welcome to the boards and have fun planning.:)

My don't miss that other's haven't mentioned already:

Storybook Canal Boats at night
Fantasmic!
Primeval World diorama on the train between Tomorrowland and Main St stations
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in DCA- your younger kids will like it, and you can relax
Grizzly River Run (if it's warm weather)
Monster's Inc
Turtle Talk with Crush (love him!!)
50th Anniversary movie/exhibit on Main Street at the Opera House

Take your time- relax and enjoy-

and do Space Mountain a bunch of times!!

Thanks everyone for you helpful advice! I am so looking forward to DL! I think I am more excited than my kids!:rotfl2: Soaring sounds so much better now, I was worried that one of my fearless adventurous DD:cutie: would try and jump off and that would not have been good!:sad2: Now I don't have to worry:cool1:

Not to dispell but...according to what has been previously published you are anywhere from 10- 40ft. Since my internet connection is the pits I am having my brother try and find the article. Super smooth ride that really fools your brain. Here is a link..http://www.allearsnet.com/dlr/tp/dca/soar.htm
Have fun.

Jack

Thank you for the link blackjack delta! Although my littlest is tall enough to ride I think my DH and I will take turns on this one until we know how she'll do on more little kid friendly rides.
