Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am new here. My name is Kenna. My husband and I honeymooned at Disney last September and joined the DVC while there. We have yet to get back to Disney but have gone to NYC on points and will be going to Stowe, VT next week and are spending a long weekend in Lake George before Christmas. We live in Schenectady, NY so my husband wanted us to join Saratoga which we did. It is in our back yard. We are hoping to go on the member cruise next year as we couldn't this year as I just had our first son in July. I will be asking some questions about the cruises once I get a feel for where they should be asked! Thank you all for taking the time to get to know a bit about me!

Welcome! It sounds like you're making really good use of your points already! We've only done WDW with our points so far and they're still not stretching far enough (I have add-on-itis, but no capital to fund it!).

We own at SSR as well and have had 1 trip there, with a short grown-up trip (next weekend!!) at BWV and a big family trip at BCV for Christmas.

There's a lot of very nice and knowledgeable people here that will answer all your questions, I'm sure!

Congratulations on your DVC purchase and your first baby. July is a great birthday month. My youngest was born July 6th, but my baby is now 12.

When you are ready there is actually a board just for Cruises. It was a tremendous help a couple of years ago when I cruised with my DH.

Hi, neighbor! HOME!!! ...and to the Disboards!

You'll find a lot of great people and great information here. We have never been to the real SSR, but love our home resort! In your opinion, how close is it to the real thing? Would love to hear about it, and how close it compares to our home resort.

Congrats on your new baby boy! You will love taking him to Disney. Our son, who turned 13 today, went for the first time when he was 4. We took our daughter when she was 1. We've gone almost every year since then, and here lately, a couple of times a year. Not sure about the drive from NY, but our drive is around 16 hours, depending on stops. We try to fly, but twice a year can be a little expensive.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes! We will fly when visiting WDW. It is about a 24hour drive which is a bit long for me. The cost of gas right now would also end up costing us as much as flying. We were looking the other day and we can fly to Orlando for $400.00 round trip for the two of us. I am sure things will change when I have to pay airfare for the little one. IMO, Disney did a great job of replicating Saratoga. It is famous for the race track and has tons of stately victorian homes. I could not afford to live there but it is nice to visit. The nightlife is great. As well as the people watching. I think the colors are a bit pastel but it is Disney and they need to make it vibrant. The mayor went down to Disney to help cut the ribbon when it opened and it made the news up here which was really cool.

Welcome, I am from upstate NY too and am going to SSR for our first visit in 16 days! Yes, we are very excited to be going there. Although, it isn't our "home" we bought AKV in May - it will be our first visit as DVC owners and can't wait. We too, are flying because I just don't want to spend that much time in the car!

We live in Saratoga and bought in at Saratoga back in 2003!!! We now say we have places in Saratoga North & South.

We have had great times bringing our daughter to WDW (she has been 4 times already and is just turning 5). We have great memories, and have been able to share our membership by having family stay with us this past trip.

I hope you enjoy your membership as much as we have. You will find some great advice on this forum, it has helped us plan for every trip!
