Hi,
I am new and have a few questions about renting points.

I am not a DVC member can I still rent points?

I would like to stay at Disney Boardwalk in a 2 bedroom suite for 7 nights. I used the point calculator and I need 236 points. So, if I can rent without being a member, all I need to do is find someone willing to rent me that many points, right?

Thanks,
Jill

Yes that would be correct, someone to rent points from plus ensure that there is available space in the DVC resort you want to stay at on the days you want to stay.

Remember that if your days carry the seasons then you need the points for each night in the season as opposed to WDW resorts where the price for the total stay is set by your starting day even if the stay crosses seasons

Thanks
Jason

I plan on going 10-4-2003 to 10-11-2003. Are these dates within the same season?

Yes, all of October is in the Choice Season. 7 nights in a 2 bedroom BWV is either 282 points (preferred view) or 236 points (standard view). Most standard view rooms are booked at the 11 month window, so it's a good idea to plan on having to pay for a preferred view, especially if the 7 month window has already passed.

Good luck!

I assume she means BWV. You cannot use DVC points for any of the BWI rooms.

I know she probably means the villas but I just wanted to make sure. I know you can't use the points at BWI but when she said "suite" in her post I thought maybe she didn't know that.

I'm assuming since she used the points calculator she is in fact talking about a villa.

I know some people who don't know a lot about DVC may think you can use the points anywhere at WDW.

I am interested in a 2 bedroom villa. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks,
Jill

JillS -- While it's become common practice to charge based on the number of points used, what you are really doing is finding a DVC member to make the reservation for you and then you pay the member for the use of the reservation. It's like renting someone's vacation home and it is purely a personal transaction. You should work out in advance what will happen if there are any changes or cancellations. When you book through a member, you receive the same housekeeping as a member.

It is also possible to book directly through Disney, just like you book any other hotel. You then get full housekeeping and the flexibility of changing your plans without much of a problem. However, it usually costs more when you book through Disney.
