We just booked our first trip! We leave in less than 2 weeks. Crazy... I know!

I've been working on ADRs...a whole new world for me.

I was wondering if we could walk up to a restaurant in EPCOT or Hollywood Studios and try to get in/place name on a waiting list. We could be flexible with our times.

Depends on the day and the restaurant. If you try one of the more popular restaurants you will probably not get in. I would HIGHLY suggest making your ADR's before you go. You are going during peak time so your chances are VERY slim of doing any walk-ups. You are taking quite the risk and will spend a lot of time looking for a place to eat. :sad2:

I think Epcot is also very difficult to get a sit down meal at without an ADR. With them offering the Candlelight Processional dining package; I had trouble making dining ressies months ago. Plus, it is free dining. I would go on the website, put in a location of Epcot and the time of day you want to eat and see what comes up. Good luck.

Thanks! I've booked quite a bit but HS is totally not showing anything for TS. So I thought instead of fast food we'd try and walk up. If that doesn't work we'll just get fast food or return to POR (or another resort with openings???).

Also in EPCOT we really wanted to try Coral Reef. We have something else booked but I was wondering if we could at least ask if something opened up.

We've had luck with walking up to Biergarten/Germany before ... but your chances are better at lunch (and cheaper, too, for basically the same buffet as dinner).

Maybe try an off-time like 2:30-3:00 ?

Although with Thanksgiving crowds approaching, you may or may not have luck. I hope you do, though! ;)

Basically, all you can do right now is to keep checking every day and try for different times. You can certainly ask when you arrive, but I would check early in the day that you are wanting to eat there. Just do not be surprised if they do not have any availability or if the wait is over an hour. Try and have other options ready just in case even if that is a counter service mill.

If you decide to eat outside of DHS, you could check with Beach Club or Boardwalk as those are within walking distance to DHS. The Dolphin and Swan are also within walking distance, but I am not sure if you are using the dining plan or not and I do not know if their restaurants accept it.

Dinner is a tough one. I'd try all the places you're interested in and try to get an ADR. For lunch...

At HS
We've walked into 50's Prime Time either before noon or after 1:30 for lunch. I think Sci-Fi is similar.

At Epcot
Teppan Edo- Japan, if you go for early lunch
Rose and Crown- UK, often has openings at lunch
Biergarten- Depends on the crow, but usually accepts walk-ins
Nine Dragons- always seems to be available for walk-in

Really, except for France, Italy, and Canada (Mexico now it seems) you have a chance at lunch at most of the world restaurants.

As the others have said it is best to try and get an adr before you go. However you can try to do a walk up, there isn't a list, if they say you can wait, that is what you do....wait. Everyone in your party has to wait there, you can't leave and come back.
Often these times can be 2+ hours, so know that going in. Just want you to be prepared.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip.

There's a mobile phone app with Disney Dining now, and there is a "Near Me" function I haven't tried yet.

Type this in your mobile phone (not sure if it works for all, but I have an iPhone.)

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/m/

Try it out now or later. And maybe the "Near Me" function might help you with walk-ups.

They don't.

If you can't get anything for DHS, try walking or taking the boat to the Boardwalk. They have the Big River Grille and ESPN Club. Not sure but I don't think they take ADRS so you might have luck there.

Also, you might have more luck at resort restaurants. Some of the best food I have ever had has been at Disney resorts! And I don't mean like O'Hanas. It's good food, but good luck getting an ADR. Olivia's at OKW is AMAZING! And you can take a boat from OKW to Downtown Disney, have some desert and then grab a boat back to POR!!

Try the Grand Floridian Cafe as well. We are eating there for the first time in January, but I've heard great things, and ADR's are easier to get there.

Go to allears.net, click on dining, go to resort dining, and browse! I think you will have better luck at some of the "not as known" resort restaurants.

Have Fun!

The week of 10/24 we walked up to Tokyo Dining and got in at about 5:30 (even though in the system it was showing up as booked), and we walked up to Tutto Italia at about 6:30 and were seated immediately. I think these restaurants might have less of a draw because of the neighboring restaurants (Teppan Edo was jamming when we were there, and there were people lining up for Via Napoli as well).

Good luck! If you are walking up, I was told by a CM to try and get there early -- like between 5-5:45. That's when most restaurants have the no shows for ADRs.

I would try to do a walk up b/c of people double booking and read some places have emtpy tables. I read a few weeks or a month ago a family really wanted to eat at LeCellier and no ADR for 3 months before they left. They went to the restaurant and they were sitted. Another story I read is that they go to the park in the morning and ask which restaurants have availabilty. It doesn't hurt to walk up and ask...worst thing they say is no and then you just have to eat CS or go to a resort and eat there (if Epcot or HS...take a boat to a resort)
